Anyone here also a fan of fellow Austinites? Just finished with their albums Directions to see a ghost, and just now Death Song. Amazing band if you haven't checked them out.

My favorite local band. Have all their albums and have seen them at least 20 times.

Don’t sleep on Indigo Meadow. It’s my personal favorite, even ahead of Passover.

If you like what the Black Angels are to 60s psychedelia, check out local band Annabelle Chairlegs who channel 60s surf rock.

they should have a new album out this year. that's kind of shocking to hear indigo meadow is anyone's favorite, it's my least favorite by a long shot.

also alex maas's solo album from last year is quite good, but way more mellow than the black angels.

The Austin Psyche Fest (now Levitation) at the old Seaholm Power Plant was probably my favorite music fest ever. This pic came across my FB feed just before I clicked on Music forum.

passover is generally considered their best album.

I love them, they're amazing at incorporating intensity without being overwrought

I'm fucking jealous!!! I just have those two, but I'm waiting on Passover and Phosephene Dream. I've been wanting to see them live for so long. I'd sever a limb for it.

Never heard of them. Where do I start?

I started with Death Song, then worked my way back with Directions to see a ghost. I've heard Phosephene Dream is dope as hell, and Passover is supposed to be amazing. Honestly, you can start anywhere. They're just sick as hell

Duuuuuuuude. That's absolutely awesome! I'm so jealous!

First time i saw them was with dead meadow at SXSW in 2005 I think, was blown away. At this point I don't think there's another band i've seen live more times. The first psych fest was in a barn on burnet rd and there were only about 200 people there. Seeing them at red rocks open for robert plant I think is my favorite.

They've got a couple good ep's as well...clear lake forest and phosgene nightmare are both worth listening to.

Took me a dozen listens to really appreciate it.  Indigo Meadow, Evil Things, Holland, Love Me Forever, Broken Soldier, and You're Mine are all strong.  They do channel the Doors a bit much on a few tracks but I'm not a Doors hater so it doesn't bother me.

there are definitely some good songs on indigo meadow...but it's also their only album that has songs i flat out don't like.

Used to listen to them on Apollo Audio back when it was in existence--early 2000's, along with groups like the Telescopes and Brian Jonestown Massacre.  Good band and fantastic live show.

i liked that chick drone player they had back at the start.

she apparently had no idea how to actually play the instrument. they told her what keys to press for all the songs and she memorized that. it quickly became clear that would not be a viable solution going forward.
