One on one tackling is non existent. I’m sure it’s just gonna take some getting used to but this game feels way clunkier and slow than last year. If the computer determines you will lose the game you will know fairly early on. Florida’s first drive they tipped a ball over DB to pick up a first down on 3rd and 15. Then my next drive on offense I dove for the pylon and of course fumbled. Touchback. This shit is super frustrating so far Yeah playing against the computer in season it sometimes seems a bit scripted. You’ve got to survive the initial momentum and second half momentum and play super conservative. also you have to memorize the plays because even with a fucking lead QB won’t know any receivers or routes online was better last year there was no stadium pulse shit but now it’s there in ranked online play… I guess it’s backed off quite a bit online but still silly that a coin flip determines if your QB knows the routes. also last year was dumb a 2 year starter Junior QB on the road with a lead and stadium pulse makes him NOT KNOW ANY ROUTES OR BUTTONS TO THROW TO RECEIVERS
July 11Jul 11 Fuckin runningbacks can finally run screens! Being able to sub individual players in and out in-game is incredible. So simple but was it ever in ncaa or madden before?

July 11Jul 11 Downloaded it and played a game tonight. I agree, it feels slower and clunkier. There are a fuck ton of plays, on offense and defense. Collin Simons is a fucking monster.
July 11Jul 11 I’ve played 3 games, all online. I’d forgotten how strong the bitchass is. I never quit, even if I’m getting smoked. Fuck these pussies. 1st, dude quit before it started. No win or loss credited. 2nd, bitch quit when it was 7-7 and 4th down in the 2Q. Win. 3rd, dude quit down 7-0 after turning it over on downs in 1Q. Win. Edited July 11Jul 11 by B00M Edit, 4 games. Pussy quit after turning it over on downs the first possession, WTF
July 11Jul 11 Finally got a game to go into the 4th. At Tech. I scored a TD on the first drive, he matched me. I controlled the clock but had to settle for a FG as I stumbled through the playbook and ate a delay of game on 4th and 1 at the end of the half. Put it away with about 90 seconds to go when Moore got wide ass open up the seam on a huge 3rd down TD. He was my 3rd read on the play and I just about shit myself when I saw him lol Tech bro at least had some class and ‘conceded’ the game but I couldn’t see the stats. Arch was like 13 of 14 for 200+ Edited July 11Jul 11 by B00M Now 4-0, global rank about 40K

Yeah, there’s no telling how many games I won on 25 because they quit or conceded. I played one guy that was using Colorado. He tried to throw a couple of passes to Hunter and one got picked. Quit. People would get pissed if you ran the ball too.
July 11Jul 11 Started a Sam Houston dynasty last night and my team got fucking decimated by transfer portal...some of them I can understand but guys leaving because of conference prestige always make me laugh. In other news, I think Sark got fired after year 1 and Manning portaled to Tennessee so who knows. I'm following the Bordeaux and NYE recommendations of focusing on dudes with deal-breakers of proximity to home from now on 😂

This is a sad day You can adjust the settings, I'm just our here rawdogging it with the default which I think is 30. Honestly though I'm in for it. I made the playoffs in like year 2 last year with Texas State. Bring on the difficulty. Also, dynasty and bringing in recruits in the portal can be super helpful. Brought in Ty Anthony Smith from Texas as a sophomore transfer two star who was like a 70 with star dev...dude had 46 points to spend after one year and got up to a mid 80s after I spent them. Now, he may (probably) leave next year too but can hold out hope! Also if doing a dynasty don't change positions for anyone right now. It's completely broken at the moment...the goal was to stop you from taking a RB, flipping him to DE and in a year having him be incredibly good the next season. But it's broken and drastically impacts skill caps after moving them, like 2 caps to 17 in some cases I saw on YT...even if flipping from say LG to RG. Just make changes in depth chart not in position change option. Nobody is sure if that's an issue with freshmen only or not but why chance nuking someone over it.

Are you saying that in 25 you could move a player from offense to defense and they might… not be terrible? That aspect of the game has always been lacking IMO. Thanks for the heads up on the positions switches that have actually historically worked being broken now too lol I think you’ve inspired me to try raw dogging it at a shit hole for the lulz

If you call a pass play and don’t like the coverage you get, you’re SOL. I pretty much just stick to basic run plays or conservative RPOs to try and build enough momentum to take the crowd out of the game. At least this year you can see the receiver icons more clearly on the play art when selecting a play. I don’t recall that being the case in CFB 25.
July 11Jul 11 I’m 11-3 on rookie tier on road to CFP and made it to the national championship. Bringing the trophy home tonight. Then time to dominate the next tier.

You should do it!
July 11Jul 11 Okay, so my only interest in this would be Dynasty Mode. I enjoyed last year's game for a couple of months, but after 3 seasons I gave up on it. Defense was too frustrating and the scripted comebacks by the AI were just too predictable. I could take a huge halftime lead, and even a mediocre team would rally to put up 250 and 24 points in the second half, and it's not as if I switched to a prevent D like a Manny Diaz moran. Defense in general felt kinda helpless last year. I used to be good at mixing up blitzes and coverages, user picks, etc, and I felt like all of that was gone. You had to beat everybody 45-31. And I get that college football is more offensive now, but still. I did enjoy the game, but once the newness wears off and the games feel that scripted, what's the point? So... With all of that said... Should I pick the new one up? Is it better enough? Edited July 11Jul 11 by TexArcher It's downloading now. I am weak.
July 11Jul 11 I just didn't play defense last year because I'm bad at it. My happiness went way up. Update: don't change any positions, at any grade or even with incoming athletes. It breaks them all, just let the game drop them into the appropriate

I just got beat in the playoffs round 2 by Georgia, who got an onside kick even though I was in onside kick return. Game is still broken when the ball is on the ground nobody even goes for it or makes hilariously bad attempts at it. Anytime you punt you should do the backspin punt, then punt it incredibly short. Chances are they won't come up to catch it and it will bounce backwards into their players (or yours) but it's like 5050 Instead of focus groups to fix things in the game they probably just studied how to milk idiots with microtransations on the cards or whatever.
July 12Jul 12 Man, I would shade my coverage under a lot on the last game and get several picks and batter balls because of it. Almost never had the qb try to go deep when I did. I’ve done it about 5 times in two games and gotten torched on them.

July 12Jul 12 Shouldn’t be playing after this many beers but just won at Indiana against a guy ranked ~20K to my ~40K. Played so badly. Led 3-0 at half. Trailed 7-3 entering 4Q. Pulled ahead 10-7 with 90 seconds left. Defense finally gets a 4th down stop! Go up 17-7 with 27 seconds to go. He concedes. Ok but why can’t I see the stats?! 5-0 online road to CFP lol Edited July 12Jul 12 by B00M #1 after winning @ Colorado, Arizona St, Arizona State (again), @ Texas Tech, @ Indiana

Every mid tier team ends up being around a 55 overall because of their deal breaker nonsense with players. Very EA of them to release this game without testing the layout just 3 or 4 seasons into a single player campaign. And you're correct. The safest play with an EA sports game is to wait about 6 weeks for them to undo all their dumbass concepts that can't be executed or are too convoluted for long term play. Their beta testers are the paying customer. Definitely best to wait for them to patch all of their dumb, broken bullshit.

I may play though a single season with Texas and Florida just to do it offline, skip all the convoluted recruiting shit that takes forever (and doesn't even function well). I just play online road to CFP. I need to either move my xbox next to the router or run a cat6 cable because the input lag is still bad enough to screw up passing. I have fiber optic internet and the readings on the wifi say low ping / latency and all that but I think it will be a bit different if I'm plugged strait into the router still.

July 15Jul 15 Update is here i assume it’s nerfing stiff arm and everything else will stay broken also Baxter and Gibson are way better than Wisner in the game. Similar to last year with Blue and Gibson. They’ve got Wisner rated higher but he’s got less “skills”. Wisener has recoup, but Gibson has shifty which allows you to run like the RBs used to run in last years game. You don’t need to even use jukes you can just cut with the left stick. Then Baxter has all the power skills. Also no receivers have anything beyond Moore and Wingo Edited July 15Jul 15 by Zeus
July 15Jul 15 I don’t know what they did but based on a tiny sample size defense seems improved. I just had a game that was 0-0 at the end of regulation (I won 3-0 in OT).

July 15Jul 15 This thing is a buggy mess. Half the time the announcers don’t know wtf they’re talking about.
July 16Jul 16 I guess I'm in the minority, because I'm enjoying it so far. The gameplay seems much smoother, and the defense is way better than last year's. I've allowed 7, 17, and 10 against middling teams (TCU, UCLA, and Arky), which seems pretty reasonable. I'm able to break up passes again, and guys in a zone don't just stand there until someone runs all the way up to them. Now, those three games are all Play Now against the AI. I really hope the note above about Dynasty mode being all fucked up by year 3 gets fixed, or that will kill my interest in this game pretty quickly. But so far, yeah, the base gameplay seems significantly improved.

I dink and dunk now like Tom Brady and run a lot until they give me coverage I like, then let Arch dot em up. He’s got off platform which helps him make sick throws on the move.

They made the running more slow and animation based and less arcade feel. Basically it's dogshit like madden and less fun to play now. The only fun running backs have the ability "shifty" like Gibson and you can actually make useful cuts around defenders. No matter what defense you are in playing against Ohio State they can just throw bombs to Smith and one will hit. Same garbage as last year really.
