That upside-down Arizona logo the other team using as a V is pretty funny.

I wonder where they got that idea.

Marshall National-Army? High tier Germanic name there.

Major blunder to avoid:

“Never get involved with/in a Landwehr in Austin.”

Methinks he's a scholarship player at some point.

Has an Emmitt Smith approach -- don't take big hits near a sideline unless you're near the first down marker.

With the new and improved roster.... here are guys that are walk-ons that were not on the roster last season:

Guys that are new news to me:

Marshall Landwehr, DL, 6-0 210, Highland Park - 12 games, 124 tackles, 7 sacks, 3 FF; Middle backer for HP. I would expect, since listed as an end and yet so light, he will be more of an outside rusher for us. Speed isn't great, but he isn't a slug. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/10011632/5ff76e2b5ca93f14e81b1789

Gabriel Lozano, K, 6-0 175, Austin Westlake (transfer from TxTech where he was a walk-on) (Soph.) used by Tech in two games to make onside kicks; 21 of 26 at Westlake for his career; 2nd team All-State as a HS senior; https://www.hudl.com/video/3/8900361/5a57dc82a019090e707139c5

Thatcher Milton, DB, 5-10 185, Cy-Fair - made the Houston TD Club Defensive Player-of-the-Year finalist list. Young man tackles well (actually wraps up - he could NEVER play for some of our previous coaches... LOL) and brings it when he hits. Watch his highlights: https://www.hudl.com/profile/11803677/Thatcher-Milton

Not a bad few additions. By walk-on standards, these are pretty high quality additions, as are they guys that follow. I realize you don't EXPECT walk-ons to contribute, but it wouldn't be a shocker if any of these guys provided some value, at minimum, on special teams. Both would have a hard time producing at their level if they didn't have SOME athleticism.

Already announced on Longhorn boards:

Bert Auburn, K, 6-0 160, Flower Mound - well thought of and an impressive head-of-hair for any of our coaches that could use plugs.

Cole Lourd, QB, 6-2 220 from Cali - Had a schollie offer to LSU; family relationship to the Moffetts - who are big Longhorn lettermen/boosters

Michael Taafe, DB, 6-0 180, Austin Westlake - two time defensive MVP of the state title game

Safety? LB? Special Teams? Slot WR?
Team GPA raiser. Did you miss the first part of his announcement?

Offers from Princeton and Columbia. He plays school.

Landwehr is not a DL, he's an ILB.

BYU's got some energy bar company paying their walkons' tuition:

Could be a huge deal for roster management in the coming years - imagine if a team can 'give' a PWO tuition because of a deal with a booster, or in this case an Energy Bar company.

Should make the sell to give up that shitty FCS or other scholarship offer and come to Texas a lot easier.

Or pulling a Mike Williams happens more frequently. Fucking LSU.

Partly the idea with the burnt ends. Have some 3 star TE turn down a scholly from Arizona to walk on here

Especially at a place with in-state tuition like Texas or LDS/non-LDS tuition like BYU. Both are very cheap compared to the relative landscape of American college education.

Yes, please, for baseball. OLF could ban together and create some sort of fund for such. Again, cheap in-state tuition makes this much more doable for your average group of superfans.

Yep. One of the unintended consequences of this might be bringing back Nebraska-esque walk on numbers. Saban might be able to pull the entire top 100 for the 23 recruting class now.

Ha yeah. LSU’s already been doing this for a while.

I like his last name better than his first.

Although not the strongest of names, it's strategic. You can claim just about any minority status with it, the last name greatly limits his options.

Bigger position via nepotism?:

Trey Holtz - UT QB

Trey Holtz - La Tech WR coach

Running list of PWO for this years class:

LB William Alexander

DB Hamilton Martin

DB Jaivion Green

LB Ethan Wesloski

DE/TE Ben Armstrong

DB Dominic Province
