No commercial breaks on TCM. They have promos and shorts between movies. It's the last castle of classic film. It may eventually go the way of AMC, which was bad and good for different reasons, but it's loss would be devastating.

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know...morons.

The entire movie is damn near quotable. Harvey Korman fucking nailed the paddle board scene. Alex Karras knocking out the horse. The blackboard with nothing but the name Johnson on it. Lots of quick shots under a few seconds that were absolutely brilliant

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve posted that GIF on this board (and others).

Is there any chance in hell that Blazing Saddles could be made today?

That’s a very good question, and I don’t think they could get it green lit by any studio to make, let alone distributed. Maybe as an Indie, but money wouldn’t be easy.

I’m also not sure enough of the younger crowd would be able to see the movie and story are not racist. Some characters are, obviously, but they’re the “bad guys” mostly, and lose. The white god fearing citizens of Rock Ridge had a change of heart and saw the error in their ways.
