Question my manhood etc but I’ll be the dude that still has his passport and reading glasses.

Every time I go to London, I break out the fanny pack. Sunglasses, readers, mints, dude wipes, wallet. I'm ready for anything. No one bats an eye, it's so commonplace over there. Now, as a giant-sized man, no one here in the US would say anything to my face but I'd just feel weird using one here. I see them more and more, maybe one day I'll get over it.

  • Bullshit.  It's a dick move to knowingly jump in the express line with more items than allowed.  People get in that line to move quick.  It is their business if you fuck that up.

That's a lie, they have to talk to eastern Euros. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to order food in any restaurants.

Nah, those are the Syrians/Indians. Eastern europeans do all the plumbing or so my asshole brit contacts say.

Unbelievable what a car repair shop tried to do to Mrs LVC…🤯
An advisory light on her Jetta came on…it indicated a diesel filter problem.
She takes it to Sun Auto…they quoted her nearly $7000 in parts and labor…obviously she declined.
She then got a second opinion from…none other…than a VW dealer.
The dealership tells her all that needs to be done is to take the car out on the freeway at 70 mph and blow out the crap causing the indicator to come on.
They said that they would do it for $194 or she can do it herself…you can guess which option she chooses.
She takes are car out on the freeway as suggested…after driving no more than 20 minutes at highway speeds the indicator light went off.

I told her I’d go straight back to Sun Auto and let them know they just lost a customer and as many as she can steer away after a Yelp review.

Brat, you might let her know that it’s really hard on diesel engines to idle them at low rpms all the time.

Then why do these truck owners leave them running constantly? Some fuckers won’t even turn them off at the pumps. They sure as fuck don’t when they run in for their 12 pack.

This is actually a pretty standard way to reset your car's ECU. I was getting my son's new truck fixed up and smog checked (yes, we know, the seller is supposed to do that, but they're neighbors; we're square) and the shop accidentally forgot to reattach something (it happens, they owned it; we're square) and to clear the check engine light, that's what I had to do.

Oh, and you have to have at least a quarter of a tank when you do it.

i don't think i want to know why there's 10 page thread about blake lively

That’s just because chicks (and other dudes) dig loud pipes, yo.
The engine-killers are the guys in my country that will go to the bar at night and leave their diesels running for an hour or two.

So not that different than American aging boomer Harley crowd. Not to be confused with the true biker gang crowd, who will rip your head off and crap down your neck.

I don't think there's a company out there that is going to suffer from the extinction of the Boomers quite like Harley Davidson.

the cool thing about nyc is it has everything from around the world.

and the cool thing about tokyo is that it has the absolute best version of everything from around the world.

I made a cup of coffee, grabbed some peanuts to munch on, and took the dog out back so she could run around and take a dump.

While out on the deck, bap bap bap I got dive-bombed by bird shit on my leg and shoulder. Well hell. Needed to wash these clothes anyway.

Finished the coffee. It had a couple of chunks of peanuts in the bottom. How did those get there? Munch munch. Not peanuts. Some kind of seeds...

...that had been through the bird's guts.

I'm slowly working our way through the Terminator movies with the Doomlet.

Almost accidentally opened the door to the Birds and the Bees talk when trying to explain how Kyle Reese is John Connor's father while watching Terminator: Salvation tonight.

When I was a just a kid way back when and then I remember going fishing once with my Gpa.  A seagull dropped one in his freshly opened Coke.  He never said a word, gave me a side eye, gave the Coke a swirl and carried on as if nothing had ever happened.  While I sat there thinking about it, he asked if I wanted a sip.  I politely passed and said thanks, he just laughed.

I eagerly await your contribution to the Covid/Influenza/Black Death thread with the new disease you just created.

The NHL Stadium Series looks like a cool event to attend especially when teams don throwback uniforms.

Its inexplicable how bad Amazon Prime (and other platforms’) video player UI is compared to Netflix’s, especially on Apple TV.

I mean, im not talking about the backend/infrastructure engineering, just the interface of the navigation and digital video player, with which every person on earth has been familiar with for decades. Its not the flight controls of the 787 jet. Its just a play/back/fwd button, a timeline scrubber, and some toggles for audio and caption modes.

How hard is that to design? Why is it so bad?

Most of them are bad.

HBO Max was decent, then they fucked it up when dropping the HBO part.

A lot of them you can’t easily take something off “continue watching”, and places that used to take a click or two now take 4-5 clicks.

Don’t get me started about peacock.

Most of them are shit. But why?

Well, it’s a long story. One more fit for the enshittening thread.

It seems like just about every white Chevrolet Astros/Express van I see has paint peeling off, but few are rusted.  Just bare steel.

I think Honda is going thru class action lawsuits on the same thing. Apparently white paint is a mess now

The only thing interesting about the cello is that I play it. Like, at a work icebreaker, "I'm really good at cello" is a great answer to "tell us something interesting we don't know."

But that is literally the only thing interesting about it.

Not surprising. Kinda goes with the territory.

Amazon's fulfillment and delivery on goods in stock is amazing.

I ordered some cables and chargers at 11:45. and they were delivered at 3:15.

That's pretty damn efficient.

My son just auditioned at Julliard today.

He already got accepted at a couple of other good places. This was his "swing for the fences" moment.

4 years ago he had stopped playing music.
