I can almost hear the stillness
As it yields to the sound of your heart beating
I can almost hear the echo
Of the thoughts that I know you must be thinking
And I can feel your body tremble
As you wonder what this moment holds in store
And as I put my arms around you
I can tell you've never been this far before

Hey, Mister Bartender
Please don't be so slow
I got time for one more round
And a six pack to go

Well I pulled out of Pittsburgh rollin' down that Eastern seaboard
I got my diesel wound up and she's a running like never before
There's a speed zone ahead that's all right
I don't see a cop in sight
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight

Pussy whipped again
A Fine mess I found myself in
Tryin' to be her buddy
Trying to make a woman my friend...
Pussy whipped again
Blame it on the whiskey and gin
Oh Lord, I'm pussy whipped again.

Well, Johnny come in last night.
Man he was an awful sight.
The Bartender said, "Hey Johnny!
There'll be no band tonight"
"The piano-man's drunk,
He been down in the dumps.
The drummer's in bed,
He got a pain in his head.
No Johnny,
There'll be no band tonight."

Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend that we're together all alone.
I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low.
And you can tell your friend there with you, he'll have to go.

If I see you tomorrow on some street in town
Pardon me if I don't say hello (hello)
I belong to an other, it wouldn't look so good
To know someone I'm not supposed to know.
Just walk on by, wait on the corner
I love you, but we're strangers when we meet

I got me 10 forward gears and Georgia overdrive

Memories and drinks don't mix too well

Jukebox records don't play those wedding bells

Looking at the world through the bottom of a glass

All I see is a man who's fading fast

The bars are all closed, it's four in the morning

Must have shut 'em all down by the shape that I'm in

I lay my head on the wheel and the horn begins a honking

The whole neighborhood knows that I'm home drunk again

When the sun goes down on my side of town

That lonesome feeling comes to my door

And the whole world turns blue

I drove through the park and I searched all the bars

Where I made out with love too many times

It was alway so easy to find an unhappy woman

Until I starterd looking for mine

Some beer drinking devil is holding my angel

And I'll know what he'll do if he's my kind

It was alway so easy to find an unhappy woman

Until I starterd looking for mine

Girl you taught me how to hurt real bad and cry myself to sleep
You showed me how this town can shatter dreams
Another lesson about a naive fool that came to Babylon
And found out that the pie don't taste so sweet

Once I had a little girl as pretty
As I have known
Lord, you know I loved he so and then she
Left me all alone
And I swore here on this barstool
I'd never make that mistake again
Well you ain't so fine but you're all mine
And I'll love you till the end

The beginning

Well, I loved a girl
She lived out in Pecos, and pretty as she could be
And I worked the rigs on out in Odessa
To give her whatever she needs.....

....the middle

...the inevitable ending

And sometimes they let me look up at that East Texas sky
And the rain on the pines, oh Lord, how it shines
Like my darling's little diamond in the lights of loving county

Bet it ain’t rainin’ back home

bet your sister’s still on the phone

bet mama’s in the kitchen

cookin’ fryin’ chicken

wishin’ that I hadn’t done wrong...

Standing there on Main Street

Across from Mr Blues

my faded leather jacket

my weathered broken shoes

a chill north wind was blowin’

but the spring was comin on

as I wondered to myself, just how long I had been gone

so I strolled across ol Main St

walked down a flight of stairs

stepped into the hall and saw that all my friends were there

neon sign was flashing, Welcome, Come on in

Feels so good, Feelin Good Again

With Johnny Walker Read, Cuz @Steel Shank brought up one of the great lines, in the title.

George Strait's "Honky Tonk Crazy"

There's a hundred dollar bill on the table
To get me through the night
Got a tight blue jean honky tonk queen
To hold me tight

And the cowboy band's rendition
Of Texas waltz
It's music to my ears and I need to hear
To keep me from climbing the wall

I'm goin out on the highway
Listen to them big trucks whine
I'm goin out on the highway
Listen to them big trucks whine

Move slowly to my dresser drawers
Put my blue jeans on
Find my cowboy boots, my button down
Strap my timepiece on my arm
