Time to get your own home safe…..a real one.

Any brands you recommend?

Mine is bolted down, with epoxy in the holes and underside of the safe itself. I’ve found some steel plates that I plan on epoxying onto the outside to make it more difficult to cut.

It’s not the most secure, but it would take some tools and time to tear it out.

I’d like to get one to bolt into the slab or floor safe. Thoughts on that?

So as I said, I decided to get a little gold each month starting in December. Well, it's December somewhere. I like to bathe new gold coins in some sunshine, after they've probably been lock

Was in Dallas this weekend.  I scored 4 tubes of Buffalo 1oz silver bullion and a nice bar to use for a paper weight 😀

that sounds like such a beating. we just went to a depository institution that specializes in precious metals and pay a quarterly fee. if you aren't in and out and you just leave it there the fees aren't bad, they aren't fantastic either but whateves. the idea of having "all the gold.... in california..." sorry, having a modest to significant amount of PM inside my house in a safe is pretty much the epitome of a headache imo.

Also, recommendations on a small gun safe that'll allow easy access?

Wife seems open to the idea now and gotta do it before she changes her mind.

We had a safety deposit box at our local bank, but they were getting out of the safety deposit box business. I'm of the opinion that possession is half the battle. If things happen, I'd rather not depend on someone being there to help open the box.

These are high quality, more secure safes than the average builds like mine. But pricey :

I have one of these middle range small gun safes;.

I'm the same way. Easiest way to confiscate it is to not let me into my safety deposit box.

I have an uncle that has the old post office safe from Kopperl, Tx. Its welded to the floor in his workshop. It isn't big enough for much precious metal (probably 4'x4'x3') but the doors are about a foot thick, and the rest is probably about 4" thick. Our whole extended family keeps their wills and deeds in there. It probably weighs an easy 10k pounds. I've tried to keep up with small town post office closings, but it relies heavily on word of mouth.

Price is crazy, and premium to spot is blowing out. Basically $100/oz if you figure that near $8 premium. Any Austin area Surlys, I will sell you 100 silver buffalo for $9k even. Just bought a rokon motorcycle, and really probably should not have.

Got a quote from Apmex to buy back 100 Eagles $12 below spot, when they can turn around and sell it for $12 above spot.

If any of you are in SoCal, I’ll sell at spot + 6.
