The last is Weller Full Proof. That is some tasty corn squeezins.

How is that Metallica swill anyway?

1792 full proof has now jumped the fucking shark. My local place got a store pick in and put it out to their email list at 3 today and sold out of the whole damn barrel by 8.

Is it that good? I've passed on a couple of store picks recently.

Anyone seen or tried Little Book 3?  It’s a cask strength mashup of Beam’s recipes.  Sounds promising.

Starts out overly hot.  Probably best on the mid palate with some enjoyable notes. Finish that lingers but not in a satisfying way.

I’ve tasted and passed on two FP and a SB.  I just don’t get it.  Picked up 4 Sweet Wheats at retail over the last two weeks, cracked one and traded out 3 to whiskey friends/acquaintances.  I’m not on board the 1792 hype train at all.

I’m on the warpath looking for this one.  Since it won’t be raining BTACs this release season it’s about the best I’m expecting to find.

Total Wine refused to sell me another bottle of Full Proof. When I asked if they could sell one to my wife, they became bitchy and said no. “We call only sell one per party sir”.  Pretty ridiculous. Oh well, one should expect the Total in the Houston Galleria to be consistently awful.

Contains Basil Hayden, that’s a pass for me. I did enjoy Book 2 though.

I saw chapter 2 on the shelf in Kingwood last week. I’ll pm where if you’re interested.

I mean if they have a reputation for doing good picks it’s not beyond the realm of possibility, especially if it was only one barrel. Total Wine did one about a year and a half ago that was the best one I ever had, I went back the same day and grabbed three more bottles.

Yeah I mean I sorta agree but 3 months ago tthe same stores full proof pick was on shelves for at least a month before it sold out. It wins an award and people become idiots

Supposed to hit Texas in the next couple of weeks. Ch 1 and 2 were both great, looking forward to Ch 3

That is pretty bad

Picked up some 1910 today to try out. Just want to say I appreciate the insight from all of the experts here so I know what to look for when I'm at the store.

I didn’t want to be too aggressive at my friends so I went Antique 107 and some Hibiki. Great collection....

I would have asked for a Weller 12 or ETL pour

and or asked for a whole ER bottle and a quiet corner

I have been looking for it since it came out.  Have never seen it anywhere up here.
It's literally sitting on the shelf ten deep at all of the places around me. Weird how that happens.

Should have asked for a pour of Handy. Lightning in a bottle.

W12 or Blantons would of been my selection, in that order too.

I like how he has some Clyde Mays for the suckers.

Yeah I wanted to all out blitz the unopened THH and W12 but was “polite”. AW107 was very good. Wasn’t the biggest Hibiki fan...

I dislike almost all of the Japanese whiskeys. Nikka Coffey Grain is the only one I like.

What's one of the better rye's that you can easily get to make badass old fashioneds?
A little pricey, but Whistle Pig 10 makes a damn fine drink.

Pikesville or Sazarac

EHT Rye but not always readily available

Sazerac or Old Overholt, in the no apostrophe section.

Awesome, now I have a few to try. I've been using a bottle of Elijah Craig for them but will probably finish it tonight during the Cowboys game and want to go traditional rye for my next ones.

It’s actually pretty good. One of my whiskey nerd buddies really likes it.

I use Baby Saz.

Finally scratched my birthday bourbon itch at a random bar off Mississippi Ave in Portland.

It easily justified all the fuss.

Bulleit rye doesn't suck at all.

Old Forester Rye has become my new standard.

Pikesville for badass

Old Overhold Bonded for just great

I wasn’t going to weigh in but since Rittenhouse hasn’t been mentioned...

Rittenhouse for sure.

I second Sazerac rye. Excellent price point

This. For a cocktail, you don’t need to spend any more.

Had such high hopes for this after going through 2 bottles of the BatchProof.
This one just doesn’t really do it.
You can definitely taste the chocolate, it just lacks overall though.
Disappointed.

$135 To $150

I've not seen a bad suggestion in the last dozen posts. My personal favorites are Old Forester and Sazerac for the price. Pikesville/Peerless are a pricier and tastier option.

Peerless is $125. That’s pretty silly.

And the 12 year is even better

Not gonna get my hopes up JUST yet, but may have stumbled upon the ultimate honey hole...

Will most certainly post results if this shit comes through, but hoo boy... daddy is on the tail of unicorns!

Here’s a preview of the potential insanity...

Get the Booker’s Rye above all others and drink that divine bottle.
Get the pappy’s and flip em.

So am I supposed to buy Stagg Jr when I see it now?  The first couple of years I thought it was garbage.
