Enjoying a fresh bottle of KC12 on this here Friday afternoon - nice oak notes with some vanilla. Tasty!

Opened a bottle of this recently, and it is well worth the $50 or so I paid, IMO.  I'll have to explore the rest of Green River's lineup.

I agree it is really good, especially at the price point. They do a wheated and a rye that I'd like to try but haven't seen on the shelves at the chain stores in Austin.

The rye is quite tasty, so tasty in fact I just killed a bottle a few minutes ago making an OF.  Their website says it is distilled in Owensboro KY, but the recipe mimics MGP's 95/5 rye.  I suspect they started out with MGP juice and switched over once their own stuff was sufficiently aged.  Parent company is Bardstown Bourbon Co., who is pumping out some good stuff.

This awesome EHT SiB pick is getting dangerously low.
I need to hide it til the playoffs.

Specs pick isn’t great, but the regular barrel proof is good.

Apologies for the lack of details on the Woodinville above… I was pretty hammered after popping around wineries all day then finishing at the distillery.

Anyway, I talked them into giving me a couple barrel picks that usually require a VIP tour and my lord are they good. Better than any SB or finished bourbon I’ve had from them by a good mile and I hate myself for giving them away as gifts, but so it goes.

Def worth a stop next time you’re in Seattle, paired with a visit to the Hollywood Tavern next door.

After reading about people lining up on 290 at 3am for Garrison Bros distillery releases, I came up with a solution to most of our problems:

Stop by the distillery or store and pick up your raffle ticket. The distillery/store holds a drawing online. If your number is picked, they set up an appointment for you to pick up your bottle.

No crazy lines. No camp out bullshit. Just a logical system.

Agree, but I'm guessing the store is banking on those in line buying something, even if it's not what they waited in line for. Got them in the store. Plus they like to see the lines, which probably makes others more likely to come to the store, even if it's at a later date.

Opened a bottle of Uncle Nearest. Not bad, but not good either.

It has the slightly metallic taste trust I associate with Makers Mark. Not as strong, but strong enough that I won’t buy it again.

hard pass. not a fan.

The worst bourbon I've ever had.

Specs had a bottle of Old Tub bib in the clearance rack for $10.25.

It has to be worth that, right?  Been a long time since I had any of that.

If you ever get a hankering for a mixed drink, it’s perfect for that. I don’t think I would drink it neat unless I wanted to really hate myself later.

Every couple of months I’ll get a wild hair for a bourbon and Coke, and I’ve got 3 bottles of old tub from the last time they were clearanced out 5-6 years ago for that very reason.

They’ve been having some decent sales recently.

$20 off 2XO’s Innkeeper’s Blend for a months. Hopefully, they’ll put that sales tag on some Sneakhead Blend. I’ve been wanting to try it.

Old Tub is $10 bourbon. If that’s what you feel like drinking, you should buy it.

Gonna need some good bourbon to get through this current regime. What’s on the shelf at Specs these days?

If you have the means, 2XO Sneakerhead Blend is supposed to be the balls. I really enjoyed the Innkeeper Blend. Already went through 2 bottles.

Should be able to find a Maker’s 46 Cask Strength easily. It’s too expensive, but OF King Ranch is good. Rinse and repeat for WB Saffell.

If you like rye, they should have a Sazerac pick and Knob Creek 10.

Do we need to limit this thread to bourbons? Because Nikka from the Barrel is DELICIOUS with a sliver of ice. Amazing value at $60 from Total Wine.

Fucking stop. Now. Idgaf what you believe in, worship, or how you vote; and nobody else in this thread does either. Take that shit to any one of the fifty other threads on this board.

Turkey time!

I think I like Rare Breed better (especially for the price) but something about the flavor of Wild Turkey products just agrees with me so well

Dear Heaven Hill, please get help on your wheaters. There’s no reason Weller Antique should smoke the shit out of Old Fitz.

Old Fitz is insanely overrated - Honestly never had a pour that left me overly impressed.

What do y'all think the flooding in KY will do to bourbon supply/ prices?

Most likely nothing.
Rickhouses aren’t underwater.
And from what I’ve seen just Buffalo Trace has extensive flooding.

Hoping for the best. They expect it to be a couple feet worse than the last big flood in 1978.

They had enough warning to empty the gift shop. I hope they took appropriate action.

That could produce a few bottom row mud barrels.  Knowing BT, they will figure out a way to charge a premium for them.

Friends are in KY right now doing some barrel picks and they talked with Brent Elliot today and he said BT was going to be down for months.
Lot worse than thought evidently.
Oof.

Oof.

Shit just got real.

The Buffalo Trace Distillery, the country's oldest continuously operating distillery, has been closed for days as the staff waits for floodwaters to recede.

"At this time, the flood water levels are too high to provide a detailed assessment, but we can share that the flooding is extensive," the distillery said in an update posted on its Facebook page Tuesday. The statement said the distillery is expected to be closed through at least Thursday.

Guys that have taken the BT tour, best guesses on what’s damaged?
