May 9May 9 While gripped by the Thursday scaries, I’m enjoying some JD Single Malt. Y’all keep walking by it on the shelf.
May 12May 12 Got a question. I have managed to locate three of the Blanton’s. The original, straight from the barrel, and the gold edition. My question is are the red and black label bottles available in the US? I know they were not originally distributed in the US, but I keep running across postings on forums like Reddit that suggest they can be had?
May 12May 12 No. Takara black and red (Japan market exclusive) are non-domestic market bottlings. If they are in the states it’s because someone had them shipped here from overseas.

It should have made the new BTAC lineup, not EHT.

But since they don’t own the Blantons brand, I can see why that would be tricky. For those that have tried EHT 18 year marriage, you’ll know how amazing this can be.
May 16May 16 Weekend lineup for my buddy’s bachelor party in Broken Bow.Moving a little slow this morning.

May 18May 18 Rumors out there that EHT Small Batch is going off the allocated list and will become a shelf fixture. I’ll sort of buy it. Some of the smaller Spec’s stores got 10+ cases yesterday.
May 18May 18 Is it not available everywhere? It is in DfW.They need to fucking lower it back down to $40.And make ER $25 again.

Kept it in the back at most Houston Spec’s locations until very recently. Starting seeing in the case the past few months. Specs Galleria is not a big store, and they allegedly put out 16 cases this weekend. Edited May 18May 18 by billfromlaketravis

Those were fun times. And for those wondering, the $115 and $125 included shipping. Fuck specs and fuck TW

May 23May 23 Stopped off at another little local joint I frequent. Was just gonna grab a sixer of beers. Ran into this at $191. Grabbed it and am excited about the find. I’ve always wanted to try it.

May 25May 25 This WT8 may be the worst expression I’ve had of Turkey to date…Will give it a revisit, but this could be a drain pour [emoji22]
May 25May 25 That is surprising. I personally haven't tasted it yet, but every review I have seen so far ranked it better than standard WT101. Let it breathe and give it another shot, we expect a double spaced re-review promptly.

It’s not a single barrel, so it’s nearly impossible to catch a bad bottle. Do you think WT101 is better? I could WT8 not doing well in a blind vs Kentucky Spirit, Rare Breed, and Russell’s Reserve, but I like it quite a bit especially at $45.

Appreciated - Could have been that my palette was off, but I had it on its own well clear of dinner, which was pretty plain.I did pour it over a single cube and will try it neat tonight, but the most stringent notes were sour / spoiled fruit and burlap… not exactly an exciting combination. Will try it neat tonight and report back…

Will try it neat tonight and report back… Appreciate you giving it an honest review. Hard to do given the tidal wave of positive reviews. As I’m sure the thread will point out, drink what you like. Me personally, I’m going to be real careful with wheaters going forward. The New Maker’s release isn’t supposed to be as good as the Heart release which I didn’t think was anything special. I’ve lost patience on Heaven Hill wheaters. I’ll continue to buy Old Fitz because I have to, but I’ll be looking to trade them. Larceny BP is a shelter in Houston, and I can’t talk myself into buying another bottle.
May 25May 25 Ok, the revisit was solid - The glencairn likely helped, but I think the ice was the culprit. In any regard, I’ll now move this to the “solid” category.Perhaps I’m alone here, but the overall profile reminds me of Beam. Heavy dose of peanut on the nose and a little pickle on the palette. Back end carries burnt caramel notes, robust spice and a surprising burn for a BiB. This is growing on me fast, but I won’t let it touch ice in the future…Anyway, to follow with your notes on disappointing wheaters, you can add this to the list:I’m honestly sad as this is the first bottle of RE that I found lacking character. Maybe I’ll like it better tomorrow… [emoji23]
May 25May 25 First kid graduated so I opened some hyped up MGP. I will admit it goes hard for 8 year MGP and that having grown kids feels weird.

Maybe I’ll like it better tomorrow… I’ll never sniff the Heaven Hill 19 Wheat Whiskey. They’re dropping an Old Fitz 7 BiB for around $60. I’ll try it, but I’m not expecting much. Theres an opinion out there that HH distills and bottles their wheaters too hot. It feels like Rebel Yell and BT are the only distilleries that can do wheaters really well right now.
May 30May 30 I like Innkeeper’s better, but this is a damn good pour. I wish Dedman would release a 120+ proof bottle.
May 31May 31 Nice pop at 104 proof. I really like the texture and taste on the palette. Solid finish. Root beer notes.
June 1Jun 1 Did anyone go to this last year? I find the lineup to be lacking, but still seems like a good time…https://www.whiskiesoftheworld.com/tour/austin#pour-list
June 9Jun 9 Rebel 6 isn’t much better, and it’s like $30 more expensive. You’re doing just fine. 24 minutes ago, Iceman said: What is y'all's opinion of this "extreme" budget bourbon? am I wrong to like it?
June 10Jun 10 Old Fitz 7 remains elusive. Second online order canceled. A polite suggestion, it might be a good idea to remove it from your app.
June 12Jun 12 This is so weird, I couldn’t tell you if I like or hate it. Given the $85 price tag, I probably wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe, maybe it’d be a fun one to pull out at a tasting.
June 17Jun 17 95/5 Rye finished for a month in a 16yr BuffTurkey barrel.Tasty as hell.Blessed to live so close to The Whiskey Blendery.
