Curious. Given their affiliation/history with JD, you’d think they’d go to Brown-Forman for funding.

Perhaps, they got a favorable interest rate and subsidies because they’re a black owned business.

Regardless, buying a beach house via funds from a business loan is pretty, pretty bad.

That dumb bitch used the name, no way is she related to Nearest.  She knew it would help sell shitty whiskey.  She's got no affiliation with JD.  BF probably told her to get fucked.
She is all image, zero substance.

Anything good and new out?

I am busting at the seams with bourbon.  bottles overflowing shelves, cabinets, tables, on the floor and everywhere.  been trying to drink faster than i buy but losing that battle.  last two bottles i killed were an ezra 7 and a larceny store pick.  both serviceable but not noteworthy.  last two bottles i was impressed with were a rebecca creek spanish oak, a peerless double oak.  i also swore off bardstown so trying to plow through those.  last one i killed was one of the early discovery or fusion (cant remember which or the number).  it was so good i'm second guessing killing the rest of  them.

two items I never see at home, regardless of venue.  Just sitting on a shelf in Ralph's/ Kroger in West Los Angeles.

The EH Taylor was purchased.

Just so sad that the price has been jacked so much in the last several years. MSRP for both is around $45. I used to buy them regularly at $25-30. Oh well.

Eagle Rare 10 was a killer BT deal at $27

I was in SoCal all week and usually it’s 100% I’d be scouting the stores, but honestly just have way too much to even bother right now and that makes part of me sad. I did so love the chase…

Small batch and BT are everywhere in DFW. Blanton’s is starting to become much less scarce as well. Secondary prices on ETL, Hancock’s and most of the BTAC have plummeted in the last few months. I really hope this is a sign of things to come.

Weller 12 was still ~$279 anywhere I happened to see it in SA stores. Bottles dusty AF.

Few months ago I walked into a rando store and they had them priced at $90 if memory serves. It wasn’t over $100 I know that. Guy let me buy 2. Went back a week later and got another one. I’m pretty well stocked up. For now…..
And some places still charge outrageous.

As a side note…I did almost break down and buy the Stagg. I haven’t seen it anywhere else. But I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. It’s the principle of the matter.

I can never be so lucky

Patience. Secondary has come way down in the last six months. Do I think we’ll ever see $54 for a 1.75 of w12 or $46 for a 1.75 of 107? Absolutely not, but we’re a hell of a lot closer than we’ve been in the last 6-7 years.

$200 for Stagg jr is about the norm. Seemed to be the best price up there

Mrs Mo is visiting family in RGV. Last time she was there she found a Blanton and Weller Special Reserve. This is what she found today.

That lingering fear is what keeps you alive…

I saw Bobby’s shout-out to Bingham Bourbon-has anyone tried it and is it any better than as a novelty?

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve been a fan of his for over 15 years. Traveled all over to catch his shows. Bingham’s bourbon is terrible. I’d drink Old Tub straight, from a homeless man’s shoe, before I drank his bourbon again.

I have a liking for the KC12. Apparently it’s catching on because Specs has a “limit 1 per customer” tag on the shelf. It’s a good juice for the price point. And this Frank August was just a shot in the dark. Specs guy told me he really enjoyed it. Maybe he was upselling me. Don’t know. I’ll give it a spin.

Can someone remind me which if any of the NULU bottles are worth buying.

I asked last year and was told something that I can't find now but whatever I was told was great.

That toasted honey I cracked last weekend was fantastic and is still available at Seelbach’s… but honestly I have yet to taste a single pick of NULU that I didn’t like.

I would bet this is pretty damn good…

Don’t know if this is considered standard fare. Never had it. And every time I saw it it was always behind a glass case marked up to some ridiculous price. Found a bottle at Specs today. On the shelf. At retail. More and more bottles are popping up that were once highly sought. It seems that nature is healing.

It’s been 5-6 years now, maybe 7-8, but there was a run of Baker’s 7 that was actually 9years and a few months and it was fantastic.

These posts make me feel real good about the Weller CYPB I picked up on the cheap from TotalWine a couple years ago.

This is a winner at $40. No idea on the availability. Spec’s had it in the pseudo back room.

I’m pretty sure the Wheel Horse release is a one off, so I’ll speak it into existence. It’s tastes a lot like Buffalo Trace Kosher Wheat.

Have you had Green River Wheat (the source)?  It’s readily available at 90 proof. They do a limited cask strength as well.

I think the extra year, 10 additional proof points, and possible honey barrels help quite a bit.

I really do like this. Easy drinker at 100 proof. Price point is right. This is one of those you can share with friends out by the fire pit and before you know it it’s gone. I’ve already drank half of it on my own.

Had this at Junction Prime in Kingsland over the weekend and picked up a bottle today.  Also saw EHT Small Batch sitting on the shelf.  The earth is healing.

Maybe. I think a lot of guys got in during Covid and their collections exploded, and now they’re slowing down. They’ll still line up at 6am for the really allocated stuff, but yes they’re going to walk right over ER10 and EHT Small Batch.

Ah yes, let’s INCREASE prices in the midst of a market reset… brilliant!

Glad I have all I need for years to come…

BT pricing has increased significantly across the board.
ER $50 and Blanton’s at $85 on the shelf yesterday.
EHT SB was $65 last week.

Blanton’s for $85 is a steal. Kidding, but that’s about $10 lower than most of the big stores in Houston.

And a hard fucking pass. I stopped buying it when it got over $60. That’s about what it’s worth. It used to be trade bait but now it’s not even that.
So many more bottles that are better, cheaper, and a hell of a lot easier to find.
