We are under a boil water notice.  I'm wondering if it's safe to use dishes/flatwear/cookwear run through the dishwasher with a sani rinse.  I've got a Kenmore Elite dishwasher with a water heat and sani rinse option.

My understanding from the last boil notice is that the sanitation cycle is sufficient.

^yes if sanitation cycle/temp gets to 150.

GE website says sani rinse goes to 145 +/- 5 for up to 20 mins.  Hmmmm.

I personally think people are making a big deal out of a very minor risk with the boil notice. When there is an actual breach in the system you have a legitimate concern. When it’s just been shut down for a day because of power they are just being overly cautious.

Our PUD told me last night they aren’t under boil advisory, but they recommend we do it anyways to be consistent with the others. I’ll take my risk with the brain eating amoebas.
