At least they're competitive.  I know the soul crushing losing streak is coming and I welcome it.  But they're feisty now.

BP on Evan Carter

EVAN CARTER, OF, TEXAS RANGERS (LOW-A DOWN EAST)

Carter is my favorite. When he was selected 50th overall last June, it was met with a resounding, “huh?” The Eastern Tennessee prep didn’t play much showcase ball, and the Tri-Cities area isn’t a traditional hot bed of high school baseball talent. The next day I got a third-hand report that he could really hit. Okay, sure. When I was doing my rounds on instructs guys, the reports got louder, “first-round talent.” I sent Forest Stulting to see him at minor league camp. He raved about the swing and approach after only one game. The Carolina League is an aggressive assignment for the 18-year-old outfielder, and Down East is a tough place to hit. But if he does hit, as I said on Twitter recently, you will absolutely be sick of us talking about him by midseason.

Apparently, Ibanez can hit but is an error waiting to happen at 3B.

Alright, now how long will our pen hold?

Longer than I expected.

This may not be a great team, but they definitely play as a team. Fun to watch....

Twins may be even more Rangery than the Rangers. Nice win.

So Ian Kennedy. 36 yo - 1 year deal. 0.769 WHIP. Any trade value where? Anyone desperate for a closer?

He’ll have value to someone if still healthy in July, doesn’t have to be as a closer. Pretty crazy 29 teams passed on guaranteeing him a big league deal, but only 14 bad innings last year.

I thought we signed him to a minor league deal?

So if he stays roughly the same. What would we get? Somewhere around a #25 prospect?

Yeah, so highly likely he would have taken the guaranteed big league deal from anyone over an milb deal from a bottom-feeder.

Way too early to gauge trade return, couple bad outings for a reliever can skew shit real fast.

I hope you’re thinking an individual team’s #25 prospect and not MILB’s #25. Those are reserved for trades for superstars.

Yes. individual teams top 25. I was specifically looking to see what pitching prospects TB had between 25-30.

Just pulled a houdini act to get out of a bases loaded, not outs without giving up a run.

Early game tomorrow to try to win the series.

If Lyles and his 7+ ERA has another shitty outing tomorrow then he needs to be replaced.  Bullpen, DFA, whatever.

Enjoying watching (more listening, thanks BallySports) these cats scratch and claw.  But, who the hell are these guys trying to get back to .500  20% into the season?

i love these noon games.  let's roll.

ESPN weekly rankings came out, and after taking 3/4 from Boston and the first 2/3 from Minnesota, Texas actually dropped from 26 to 27.  Teams with worse records (including the Twins) are higher than Texas.
