February 28, 20214 yr Popular Post https://247sports.com/Player/Bryan-Allen-Jr-46053225/ Quote There’s a certain level of nonchalance to Allen’s play at safety, like he’s checking boxes on every play and only using his speed when necessary. On the occasions where Allen does use his speed he covers ground very quickly, either downhill or laterally, and makes a lot of plays on the ball, some open field tackles, and some bigger hits on the goal line. Allen may have enough range to play a coverage safety role, lined up across from slot receivers without help underneath, but he’d unquestionably be good in a support role eying things from over the top and helping clean up runs from a hash or the deep middle. In the Chris Ash defense he’d have fit best as the boundary safety, positioned to rob inside breaking routes while staying within proximity of the box. In Pete Kwiatkowski’s defense he’ll likely find a similar role. – Ian Boyd Coach says: Strengths – Good height and frame for the safety position. Will easily end up playing around 200 lbs. Good acceleration. Highlights show tremendous range and closing speed from the single-high position. Footwork is smooth and hips are fluid. His change of direction is very good. Whether by film study or instinct, shows exceptional football IQ and anticipates the concepts being run. Takes very good angles. An impressive downhill contributor as a fill player with excellent form/breakdown and solid tackling skills. Once the play is diagnosed, he gets there in a hurry. Lower body is explosive and he uses that a lot to generate power and leave his feet when needed. Delivers a decent pop to receivers and is very disruptive in the catch zone. Highlights as a quarters safety and man coverage on the slot are very impressive. Ball skills are good. Tracks the ball well and catches it with soft hands away from his body. Special teams highlights show a confident punt returner who can fend off weak tackling attempts. Good vision in the open field and sets up the alley blockers well. Reminds me of a former Longhorn DB or two that I liked. Areas for Improvement / Concern: Would like to see more man coverage highlights and updated measureables. How this affects Texas: With a verified 4.43 shuttle, 32″ vertical, the athletic safety from powerhouse Aledo brings the total package to the position. After an early pledge to LSU, he de-committed and set his eyes on the Longhorns and Sooners. UT wants at least two safeties in 2022 and Allen fits one spot quite nicely. With Texas trending well for Bryce Anderson, adding Allen would give the Horns the two top-rated safeties in-state for this cycle. Blake Gideon and Terry Joseph have got this thing rolling. – @Justin Wells https://insidetexas.com/2022-aledo-s-bryan-allen-commits-to-texas/ Edited February 28, 20214 yr by texifornia
February 28, 20214 yr Gideon is letting his nuts hang. With his state ties and the Texas logo and his energy he could be our defensive ace recruiter. This is only the beginning. Edited February 28, 20214 yr by RaysBoomBoomRoom
February 28, 20214 yr Gotta believe that Bryce Anderson is the next safety in line. Didn't BJ say that he and Bryce want to play together?
