Anyone able to speak on the medical marijuana vs consumable hemp stories going on after the governor veto? I thought I saw under the compassionate use rules 90 day “chronic pain” was added. Chronic pain has been a very elastic circumstantial barrier in Texas with regards to absentee voting. Was curious how doctor visits/proof may affect this, if at all, as it wasn’t required for voting.

There's no reason whatsoever not to completely legalize cannabis in all forms unless you are just hellbent on being a priggish dick.

Let me be clear:  if you support anything but full legalization, you should be barred from consuming any alcohol or taking any medication that might have any remote level of pain or mental relief. If

The problem is that "medical marijuana" in Texas under compassionate use is like, barely anything. No flower allowed and it's a gummy or tincture of barely any THC. Doubt there are real medical benefits.

disclaimer: this was last time I checked like 18 months ago. Maybe things changed, but doubt it.

But we're not talking flower here, it's some BS 10mg crap gummy.

Isnt 10mg pretty much the base for all edibles and smoke for medicinal patients?

No. Are there plenty of 10mg edibles? Sure. But there are also 250mg edibles

Vape is 1g or 0.5g typically. I’ve seen a 2g canister. Pre rolls are around 0.5g and flower can be bought in larger quantities like 3.5 or 7g

PTSD is already on there and the websites claiming to get you your card make it seem like, without saying it, that pretty much anyone could qualify.

Each?  How many per how long?  I might have some chronic (hee hee) pain on the weekends.

Also, according to what I read early on (and may have been dropped), they are changing the rules to have remote outposts stocked more easily.

A 10mg gummy eases the nocturia I experience from having benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) … I actually get some decent sleep.

10mg may work for some folks and that's awesome. However, 10mg isn't enough for everyone and their aliments.

Man I would get high as fuck with 10mg, especially on top of the whiskey and Mexican quaaludes.

10mg gummy allows me to be functional.

I had a 25mg caramel and felt like I was speaking in tongues... And while I enjoyed it, I do not have that kind of free time.

I've noticed the more I smoke, the less I drink.

10mg right now. Chilling on the couch. Might go to the car wash.

When it expands to vape in September, the TCUP program might actually be worth a dang!

I probably need to take a tolerance break. buddy gave me some 75mg gummies for sleep and I took one on the 4th to stave off the depression about what I was reading going on around me and barely felt anything. then again, i smoke a little throughout the day and it basically normalizes me and gives me focus. I haven't been high-high in a long time, and frankly I'm ok with that. I'd rather be normalized and functional than neurotic and high.

I can't even imagine smoking throughout the day and being normal. i see people who do it. they *think* they're normal, but I can tell they're high... they function, though.

getting high all day and taking small tokes periodically, especially before sitting down to focus on a task for a while, are completely different things. but everyone reacts differently and for me it's a calming, turn the chatter off in my brain kind of experience.

I've never liked the prolonged high of overdoing it with edibles, so I don't take them very much. I don't think I metabolize them like other people do either bc they just don't have a prolonged effect on me (anymore)

Few pulls on a cart and its much easier to draft documents and PPTs with  precision, IMO.  I do some of my best work "relaxed" as you are just free.

Legalization of cannabis by U.S. states is likely increasing the use of cannabis as an alternative to conventional pharmaceutical drugs. We examined how cannabis legalization between 1996 and 2019 affected stock market returns for listed generic and brand pharmaceutical companies and found that returns were 1.5-2% lower at 10 days after legalization. Returns decreased in response to both medical and recreational legalization, for both generic and brand drugmakers. Investors anticipate a single legalization event to reduce drugmaker annual sales by $3B on average.

Had one of these yesterday. Great taste and dare I say this is my preferred way of indulging. No dry mouth, no coughing. Was $7 retail (Chicago bleh).

Way cheaper than drinking alcohol, plus it should help with the beer belly since you only need one and it took the edge off. I’d drop these off in every Republican office in the Capitol extension if I could.

Trump can't unilaterally reschedule marijuana but he can direct the DEA to do it through administrative hearing, public comment, publishing in the federal register, etc. Lots of time will be needed to deal with this because an overnight change would mean a nationwide shutdown of dispensaries due to lack of state and federal licensure.

The only reason he might push for it is for some votes.

But this comment..

Quote

“We’re looking at it. Some people like it, some people hate it,” Trump said this summer. “Some people hate the whole concept of marijuana because it does bad for the children, it does bad for the people that are older than children.

They are called “adults” Donnie.

Lately I've gotten to this point. If I don't have to talk, I can get things done.

I need to do about 10k in expense reports today... Sounds ideal

lol, have you been asleep the last 10 years? he can do and does anything he wants. it's whether other people follow through is the issue - so far they seem to.

Like most things in life, practice makes perfect

It would be a step in the right direction, but make no mistake, classifying it as schedule 3, just like Biden wanted to do, does little to nothing at all for the average individual.

Legalization will only come via congressional action. So, basically not any time soon.

rescheduling allows for testing, which is the only reason to keep it scheduled. we want that. the legality of recreational use will continue to be the focus, but the ability to use it in medicine is the primary reason to keep it scheduled.

Yes, but just because it's hopefully going to be more available to study doesn't make it more accessible to individuals to consume. The biggest benefit (from what I've read) is it allows marijuana businesses to claim operation tax deductions that they weren’t allowed to previously. Maybe that results in a price decrease at dispensaries in already legal states?

oh, totally agree and that is really the crux of the issue, but it would be a step in the right direction. it being schedule 1 and is a crime in itself, and freeing it from those restraints would be a great win. I think we parse the details from there, but once the criminality is removed from the equation, I think you'll see a distinct difference between what is allowed recreationally vs medically. I think the latter will be greatly controlled and monitored and over time the former will be relegated to smaller operations as that is no longer competing with people who need it medically. I dunno, just fucking do something. It's way past time

I would expect prices to slightly rise at first. You have to take into account the regulatory approval process that dispensaries will be asked to follow. DEA certification and state pharmacy board licensure isn't cheap and they'll be expected to hire medical professionals in order to be in compliance.

I don't think the marijuana world is ready for what's about to happen.

Neither is the consumer, especially here in Texas.  I'm about to get early termination from a 5 year deferred adjudication probation for weed (speaking to the absurdity @Longhorn_Fan68 was talking about.) I went into a smoke shop the other day trying to get reacquainted with what is legal. When I asked if they had any disposables, the guy is all like "nah. It's a new thing. First you have to buy the device--those are over there and start at $30. Then, you buy the liquid for it separately--that's over here. It includes the syringe so it shouldn't be too difficult..."

WTF.

Why would the Federal move have any immediate impact on Texas? Texas legislature would still need to take up a vote on amending the current Texas penal code that criminalizes sales, transport, use, etc.

it's such a political loser to be against this at this point (I think like 70% agree it should be legal in some form) and I just don't see how you get the toothpaste back in at this point. have you seen any convenience store lately? half the shit on the shelves and a good portion of the refrigerator case is thc in some form or another. just get it done and peel the fucking bandaid off ffs

Looks like the EO is done.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Will trickle down to Texas CSA unless the HHSC commissioner objects.
