No pics.  Hosting a small business dinner in Downtown Milwaukee next week.  Current ideas include Harbour House, Zarletti and Bacchus.  Are these worthy?  Do any of you Surly Horns other have recs?  Thanks.

Mader's is pretty authentic/old-school and considered a favorite in Milwaukee.  I'd also think long and hard about ditching a 2.5 hr. dinner and taking everybody to a 2.5 hr brewers game.

Only took two posts.

Nice work.

Mo’s.

irish bar across the street for couple dozen Guiness.

watch your step on the deep ass curbs.

Depending on the crowd:

Lakefront Brewery

Bayview options:

Honeypie Cafe

Cafe Central

Also, Potawatomi Casino has damn good buffet.

Thanks.  Another friend mentioned Mader's.  I looked at the menu -- People in WI must be huge!  How does anybody eat that much food?

Harbor House and Bacchus are solid choices. Between the two, Bacchus. Harbor House only offers a few alternatives to seafood: filet mignon, New York strip, chicken and a vegetarian pasta.

Downtown

And it seems as if you're trying to stay east of the river. Planning on walking to the restaurant? Carnevor. https://m.carnevor.com/menu.php  Not the great views as Harbor House or Bacchus but a solid menu and nice wine list.

If you are an adventurous eater, Sanford's. May not be within walking distance for your group. No set menu; Modern American omakase-style with wine pairings.

Mo's is casual. On Wisconsin Avenue immediately west of the river. The Brewers will be playing Cleveland next Tuesday and Wednesday. You could go to Mo's for a drink and hop on their free shuttle bus to the game. Eat at the ballpark. Reserve tickets and an outdoor table at TGIF. (Miller Park has a convertible roof.)   http://www.frontrowmilwaukee.com/tickets/tickets.html

I have not bee to Bacchus since 2008-ish do the ballgame and do it in style

Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were coming here as early as the late 1600's to trade with the Native Americans. "Milwaukee" is an Indian name. Actually, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land.

They really wanted a threesome with Carmine.

Did you know that Milwaukee is the only major American city to elect four Socialist mayors?

Just find the following, and you'll be good:

Bloody Mary's.  They will come with a beer chaser.  People outside of the Upper Midwest don't seem to understand the brilliance of this.

Brats.  Duh.

Cheese.  Duh.

Everything else is window dressing.

Truth.  Had a Bloody Mary with a beer chaser.  Ended up pouring some of it into my drink like a Michelada.  Folks looked at me like a guy with two heads.  Also ordered some steamed mussels -- of course the mussels were steamed with brats!

Dinner was at Carnevor.  Solid place.  Loved bar-hopping on Brady Street.  Downtown Milwaukee is a pretty cool place.
