there's so much to unpack from today, so i'll just start listing them. tuesday was devastating for oakland, today was twice as devastating for the yankees.  they had just started to play better.

The boy and I were at the last ALCS clincher - we were walking on air for days after Altuve’s walkoff. Today, the boy is 5,000 miles and 7 hours away, with no way to watch. So we did a video chat, w

  • Enjoy it. Old Altuve, no more Correa means this is the very end of the road for your tainted dynasty.

I’ve held out hope, but this team is going nowhere with this batch of arms in the bullpen.

A great game turns into the 2nd absolute embarrassment this week.  And Click just continues to pick his nose.

I think Crane just refuses to spend on a real bullpen. Even under Luhnow the bullpen was always the crappiest part of the team.

Just think… without the free runner, they would only scored six runs that inning!

Giving Tony Sipp $18M will do that to you

I keep thinking back to that damn liner that Correa almost snagged. If that's just two inches lower and he catches it, that inning probably never happens because it would've been a double play and cleared the bases.

I recall I got roasted for saying the same thing, but it’s true.  We’re getting what we don’t pay for

Superstars make that play.

Carlos Correa is just OK at this point in his career.

Should have brought in Paredes. Fuck you Dusty.

Lol I’m sure the guy who has walked a third of the batters he’s faced this season would have locked it down.

there is no game we can't lose with our current bullpen :(

This is the most frustrating part when a team's biggest weakness is the bullpen. No matter how well the first 5 or 6 innings go, the game is always in doubt,

If you can't manufacture a run in this situation, you might not be very good.

.. a run .. or eight.

you gotta wear that one bro

I missed this AB last night but just watched the replay and you are 100% right. Altuve should've let that ball hit him considering it would've just hit him in the shoulder. We win that game if he freezes at the plate.

Watching that 11th inning again and Raley was the victim of some really bad luck. None of those hits were squared up. First single could have been caught for a double play if Carlos can make a play we've seen him make before, the single to Kim was a stupid blooper fisted off the hands into shallow rf, and the single to Pham was similarly fought off inside that would've been an out to Altuve if he wasn't shifted to the left side of the infield.

Raley is the pitching version of Kyle Tucker in April.

Maybe he should make better pitches where they miss the ball completely then

Eh maybe. The results are the results so Raley has to own those baserunners.  He made some pretty good pitches and hit Maldonado's spots, but the Padres are a good team as well. It happens. I'm not saying Brooks Raley is Josh Hader, but I still like his advanced metrics and think he's just an easy punching bag.  I

I'd like to know Maldonado's reasoning for going to the 4-seamer on the 2-2 pitch to Pham and away from the cutter. Maybe he thought Raley wasn't commanding it that at bat since the previous pitch nearly hit Pham but he swung fouled it off the knob of the bat.

Yuli scratched for Taylor Jones.

Left middle finger inflammation?

Had to happen playing the Dodgers.....

Interesting thoughts from Strom on Paredes. For all the talk the media made out of Astros hitters benefitting from the Covid reality of the 2020 season and how it would change in 2021, they whiffed on the practical impact of that difference on young pitchers, especially bullpen guys coming in to games in pressure situations.

Worth watching.

So let's make it easier on hitters by shifting when your pitcher's primary pitch is a cutter.

So let's put our most versatile player at DH so he can't be used anywhere else in case of injury. Dusty is not a brilliant manager. I'm beginning to see why he's never won a championship despite having some very loaded teams to manage.

Every team except the Reds he has managed has won a championship after he left.

Well Diaz is especially important right now beyond this one game so it makes sense to guard against that. I don't think it's likely he would get injured playing first base but then again I wouldn't have guessed Yuli would either.

Taylor Jones is a butcher with the glove.

He doesn't have any option years left so he would have to pass through waivers.

that's nonsense, his FIP is under 3, his K rate is 12+/9, his whiff rate is top 15%.....he'd be claimed.

will he make it out of the first

yes !!!!

motherfucker!

Tucker stroked that one too. great play by that ex-Ranger

It will be interesting to see which position player takes the mound for the Astros today in place of the bullpen.

Odorizzi>>Garza Jr>>Scrubb>>Smith>>Abreu>>Robel Garcia???
