there's so much to unpack from today, so i'll just start listing them. tuesday was devastating for oakland, today was twice as devastating for the yankees.  they had just started to play better.

The boy and I were at the last ALCS clincher - we were walking on air for days after Altuve’s walkoff. Today, the boy is 5,000 miles and 7 hours away, with no way to watch. So we did a video chat, w

National broadcast guys have been fine, but they keep belaboring the GIDP for the Astros, as if it's some disastrous stat.

Through yesterday's games, Houston(82)  had one more GIDP than NYY(81.)  Meanwhile they have 39 more runs, 54 more hits, and 49 fewer SOs than the second place team in those categories.  Astros are 6th in BB, with 36 fewer than LAD, which has 354 freebies on the season.

Tell the whole fucking story, dudes.

Yeah gidps tend to happen when your offense constantly has runners on base. It's like bitching about LOB numbers even though the offense is #1 in runs/gm.

Yeah. Plus this team doesn’t strike out. Consistently putting the ball in play is another contributing factor in the DP numbers.

Get Javier warm to come in and finish this out. Pressly probably not available.

Fuck Dusty for putting Jones in LF.

Tell me his other option.

Exactly.  If you have the best batting average in the league and the lowest strikeout percentage in the league, you're probably going to lead the league in total runners left on and double plays.  You're also going to score a metric ton of runs.

And the fact that professional broadcasters don't understand these things is kind of embarrassing.

ahhh Stanek.  Like getting a 32oz glasss of warm vinegar after running 5 miles in Texas in August.

Stubbs?

Go pickle juice...

Is Pressly available if we hold on to this lead?

I doubt it. He pitched Thursday and yesterday.

So Jones sucks. Misplays a fly ball and gives up a run. Strands a man on third.

Does any organization have more AAAA players than the Astros?

Honest question: has Jones done anything that has helped this team win a game? I can't remember a single meaningful contribution.

When fully healthy, does any team have more All Star caliber players than the Astros?

RBI hit against Keuchel in the Sox series and RBI last night to get the team off to a good start.

But the dropped foul pop up in the Tatis at bat against the Pads still overshadows a lot.

Never mind. Pressly warming up.

After that 8th, I wouldn’t hesitate to run Javier back out there.  Let Pressly have a day.

Would be nice if they DFA’d him to make room for González who looks like he could be ready to hit MLB pitching.

All we do is when the first 3 games of 4 game series.

The AAAA Astros 3

Erie Warriors 2

Red Sox and A's in extras again

That was efficient!  Good win with the C team lineup.

Man 6 of the regulars were down and we were throwing out #6 starter.
That ain’t the C team lineup in my mind, that’s plumbing some serious depths.

The A's had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the tenth and couldn't score. They just stranded runners on the corners in the bottom of the eleventh. Game still tied at 4 going to the T12.
