The inability of closers to pitch in non-save situations has to be one of the most fascinating psychological occurrences in sports.

there's so much to unpack from today, so i'll just start listing them. tuesday was devastating for oakland, today was twice as devastating for the yankees.  they had just started to play better.

The boy and I were at the last ALCS clincher - we were walking on air for days after Altuve’s walkoff. Today, the boy is 5,000 miles and 7 hours away, with no way to watch. So we did a video chat, w

  • Enjoy it. Old Altuve, no more Correa means this is the very end of the road for your tainted dynasty.

I'm almost too nervous to watch now.

this shouldn't be happening.

In his defense he's played 1 game in his MLB career in center

Well. NOW he has.

Isn't it remarkable how a three-run lead with the tying run at the plate feels like a certain HR upcoming?

I guess not every team can have Jose Altuve.

Make no mistake, y'all. This was a damned good team we just beat. 2 more to go.

Let's win this series tomorrow and take over the best record in MLB.

pissed off emo is the best emo

Any win in SF is a good win. I remember as a kid watching the Astros play in the Stick. Every game seemed to be in black and white. Nobody was in the stands, so you could hear individual taunts. The winds were visible as was the cold. It kind of reminded me of when the Horns would go play in Morgantown West Virginia at night...the same kinda feeling Deets had in Lonesome Dove when they got up into Wyoming or wherever. "What we doin' up here Cap'n? These ain't our people."

Dang, already down to 58 degrees there.

That was the high in my ‘hood today. With the microclimates, Oracle is relatively balmy. Will be there tomorrow.

They still are and we beat em

I’d like to see Diaz get some starts in RF during the Ted Williams in CF experiment.

I love Chaz, but Diaz’s bat needs to be in the lineup regularly.

Well yeah, It's always the Rangers, Rockies, or Tigers that fuck up the Astros...

Tell me why Teddy Ballgame is or isn’t a legit center fielder?  And a Chas/Diaz platoon in right.

He doesn't have the range.  He's fine in right, but not in center.  With a big center field in MMP and Brantley in left, the Astros need a good center fielder.  My biggest issue with Click is that he apparently thinks you can throw anyone in center field.  You need a really good athlete there who also has good instincts.  I hope Meyers can hit enough to play every day because he's the one option they have who can do it well.

Thank God none of that murderers row will make the playoffs.

Speaking of the playoffs since we've gone back to the wild card game. Do we want the MFY to make it and have to pitch Cole just to survive? Or do we want them to just miss the playoffs entirely. I am kinda torn because it is an odd year and I would like to rip their hearts out and devour their souls again like we did in 2015, 2017, & 2019.

Would hate to see them miss the POs, what with all of the investment they have made.

Fuck those guys and fuck their fans.

Ivey to the 60 day IL makes the most sense.
Turns out that's what they did yesterday. Ivey to the 60 day which cleared a spot for Meyers on the 40 man. They still need to make a move on the active roster today. Raley is probably the odd man out.

Goddamn Graveman was so filthy last night.

4 batters faced. 1.1 IP and 3k I mean that sucks right?

He probably should've eaten second at the post game spread

We have guys who do that but also walk 5.

Ah the ole 5 walk and 3 strikeouts of 4 batters. No one ever sees it coming

Well, somebody put a ball in play.  He needs to tighten things up.

Well, they end up facing 9, of course.  Get to see the entire lineup.

i always assumed this, and heard this, and read this, but it's nice to hear and it's great we've brought him in so quickly and that he feels it.  makes you wonder about other clubhouses that talk this way but don't actually have it.  would love for him to stick around after this season.

also you've gotta think the scandal really bonded the team the way it has with the fans.  it's truly an "us against the world" mentality".

Kind of funny that Greinke is hitting above Maldy in the lineup.

I hope we're better against Wood than in game 4 of the World Series

Abreu down is a surprise.  Probably shouldn't be since he has an option.
