there's so much to unpack from today, so i'll just start listing them. tuesday was devastating for oakland, today was twice as devastating for the yankees.  they had just started to play better.

The boy and I were at the last ALCS clincher - we were walking on air for days after Altuve’s walkoff. Today, the boy is 5,000 miles and 7 hours away, with no way to watch. So we did a video chat, w

  • Enjoy it. Old Altuve, no more Correa means this is the very end of the road for your tainted dynasty.

What I would've done if I were Altuve....

Only thing that would've made this better is if the bat would've hit the ump in the head

I can't tell from the video but I'm curious if the ump said something to him when he crossed home plate. I realize the game is changing blah blah but that shit won't fly in the show.

Throwing a bat that high in the air is a real bad idea.  It's all fun and games until you knock yourself out and end up as a meme for the rest of your life.

so retirement or donning the cape?

That’s the thing that maybe most amazed me about this: Bat came down directly below where he released it. No way I could pull that off.

mine would have gone over the netting and knocked out a 5 year old

Still not gonna pitch this year unless he is well ahead of schedule.  He had surgery at the tail end of September and his recovery time estimate then was 12-14 months.

Assuming he gets most of his velocity back, I'd be down with re-signing him.  He would be good to have around all the young pitchers at a minimum.

Still don’t understand why he waited 2 months.

said it at the time ... how often does rest/2nd opinion result in not ultimately going under the knife?

I kinda get it with his age, but damn... early August surgery there is an outside chance he could provide some value in October

It almost never works and I felt the same, but I can't really blame him for hoping for the best and a shot at being back for the the playoffs last year.

Yep. All in on resigning a future 1st ballot HOF. He'd be a better veteran #1 than Greinke, and you still need 6-8 starters to make it through the year. I hope he realizes he's not getting $35M AAV anymore. I would give him a 3 year deal with an AAV in the $20M range.

It has worked once. Tanaka.

He'll be fine once he's healthy and he will prove any doubters wrong. He's a once-in-a-generation starter and the Astros would be stupid to not do what it takes to keep him in  an Astros uniform next year.

Yeah. Stripling was a very vocal bitch going as far as saying he would intentionally hit Astros batters. Of course, him and Springer are good now that they are teammates, thinking “He might be a cheater but he’s my cheater”. Let’s light his ass up.

Same ump crew as we had in NY....fuck. how many days are we stuck with these fucksticks now?

And we even gave them a lift on the charter to Houston

At least that’s what Ford/sparks are speculating

Click signing Yuli for what is essentially a 2yr. /$15M deal is looking pretty, pretty, pretty good.

I always think that every MLB outfielder should be able to throw like Gurriel just did. It amazes me how shitty alot of MLB OFs throw....you are supposed to be the top 90 dudes in the world.

Exactly

that release time was faster than most shortstop’s catch and release the ball
