New Jersey boy. Pro wrestler. Republican candidate in Nevada. Dan Rodimer has led many lives, but his latest - a cowboy-hat-wearing, Southern-drawling bull rider - might be the most extreme transformation to date.

In his first ad as a candidate for Texas's 6th Congressional District, "Big Dan" Rodimer speaks in a gravelly, indistinct Southern accent, throws jabs at Democratic policies and compares House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to a bull. The bull he's supposedly riding in the ad.

Quote

But the New Jersey native did not have the twang last year when he ran for Congress in Nevada. In one of those ads, resurfaced by the American Independent, Rodimer's voice was softer and more clear as he defended himself against assault allegations raised by his opponent. Rather than a rodeo arena, he was surrounded at home by his children and wife - who, at one point in the campaign, was asked to explain the 911 calls she had made against him.

Rodimer has remade himself again on a road he hopes will lead to Congress, though his latest ad has earned him ridicule, even from fellow Republicans.

The ad has renewed criticism that Rodimer, with no known connection to the 6th District, is a carpetbagger pandering to the Texas electorate. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., criticized Rodimer and the ad: "Fake Texan makes fake video of fake bull ride

He has watched too many Jim Adler commercials

Apparently I posted this on the wrong thread.

You can't blame the dude.  Texas republicans are some dumb motherfuckers.  They'll buy his act hook, line, and sinker.

I will comment here before I bounce back up my ' how fucking dumb are Republicans" thread. But you know you are real fucking scum when Matt Gaetz is calling you out.

Pubs now reflexively will vote for anything that has n (R) behind it.  There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that a vast majority of Republicans would vote for big Dave pictured below even if this was his nightly routine.

I bet this dude wins. He gets it. Whether he's actually a Texan or a northeastern carpetbagger isn't relevant. He, of all the candidates, will trigger libs the most, which is what's important.

He's Big Dan and he knows how to rustle 81-year-old women.

This knob is one of the silliest and most disingenuous cartoon characters I've seen in the last four years. It'll be difficult for any opponent to be dumber than this. His victory is imminent.

No problem that the Pelosi bull leaves him in the dirt. Bless his heart, he tried.

I know that we've already got a thread for general GOP suckage but this is the first I've heard about "Big Dan"  Rodimer, the charlatan from New Jersey by way of Nevada who moved to Texas in 2020 and, having been defeated for office twice in Nevada, is now running in the May 1 Special Election for the 6th congressional district south of Dallas.  Sure Texas has had its share of doughy, carpet-bagging Republican cosplayers from places like Maryland and Canada who come in, adorn themselves with Texan accoutrements, and run for office, but this guy takes the cake.  Born in New Jersey, educate at an expensive private school and then makes this video, which may be the first political advertisement I've ever seen that includes a stunt double. If you didn't know any better, you'd swear it was SNL satire:

Every mornin' at the mine casino ranch you could see him arrive
He stood six-foot-nine and weighed two-ninety-five
Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip
And everybody knew ya didn't give no lip to big Dan
(Big Dan, big Dan)
Big bad Dan (big Dan)

Nobody seemed to know where Dan came from
He just drifted into town and promised to protect their guns
He put on some boots and started talkin' trash
to Nancy Pelosi and her sorry ass, Big Dan

Then came the tweets and it was shown
That Dan was never a cowboy, let alone
Anything but a mediocre wraslin' heel
But Texans didn't care, they made the deal with Big Dan
(Big Dan, big Dan)
Big bad Dan (big Dan)

So Dan went to DC to fight the Dems
To throw them out for all their mortal sins
But he didn't do shit cause its just a show
And Texans are too stupid to ever really know Big Dan

Then came the day when he lost the vote
And it was clear to all Big Dan had been broke
And they figured that would be his final end
But he lived happily ever after on the OAN, Big Dan
(Big Dan, big Dan)
Big bad Dan (big Dan)

Speaking to CNN on Monday, Rodimer admitted for the first time that the campaign did use a body double for parts of the bull ride segment of the ad. The ad never shows the rider's face, and the boots and vest appear slightly different than what Rodimer is wearing in the video.

"I actually stayed on for 11 seconds and the only reason I was able to get off -- well, unfortunately my hand was stuck, so I couldn't get off sooner -- we didn't get the full filming of it, and, yeah, we had other people jump in to be body doubles," he said.

Wikipedia says 6th only went 51% for Trump in 2020, so it will be interesting to see how the cowboy vs commies tactic works, especially against Wright's widow.

Y'all need to be more respectful when talking about one of our next governors.

You guys don't have to make a thread for every single Republican blowhard.

This is the second thread on the guy after he was already posted about in the GOP thread

"You ain’t a cowboy till your stunt double’s been bucked off."

LOL

In this new ad, his voice is strained and Southern-ish. He says “consatution” in the peculiar way Greg Abbott does. “I moved my family back to Texas because I want to live in a consatutional-friendly state,” he says, which makes it sound like he moved here because Texans are amenable to taking a morning walk. (He briefly lived in Houston in the past, according to his campaign website.) He wears boots, a black cowboy hat, and a thick protective vest, looking like a Brink’s armored truck driver stuck in the Old West. He is sitting on a caged bull. “The three dirtiest jobs in the world?” he asks, as the camera zooms in. “Professional wrestling, politician, and bull riding. Let’s go, boys!”

Quote

The video cuts to a bucking bull whose rider’s head is never seen. The bull thrashes, and bucks a stunt double off into the dirt. Ringside, an older feller with an accent as suspect as Rodimer’s turns to the camera. “We call that bull Nancy Pelosi,” he says. “She’s a beast.” Cut to a shot of Rodimer in the dirt. He looks up, pretending he just got thrown. “Now that’s Texas tough, baby!”

LOL.  That video is worse than I imagined.  HTF could you watch that and think it should ever see the light of day.  Fucking parody.

Big Dan Teague would be better than any Texas Governor since 1994 or representative of TX-06 since 1985.

somebody who knows photoshop needs to do the Flying Burrito Brothers “Gilded Palace of Sin” cover. except with Rodeo Dan Rodimer, Buckskin John Cornyn, Mom Jeans Dan Patrick and Cancun Ted Cruz.

This personifies the Texas GQP in a way that we on our own would be totally unable to achieve. So I say bravo Big Dan.

So I'm back in my hotel room with Johnnie Coltrane and the love supreme.

In the next room I hear some woman scream out that her lover's turning off, turning on the television.

And I can't tell the difference between ABC news, Hill Street Blues and a preacher on the old time gospel hour stealing money from the sick and the old.

I have to give him credit, that was an awesome way to talk about a pivot by pivoting. Ross would be proud.

He really is like @sidis suggested--Big Dan Teague. When people finally wake up to the charlatan all the money is gone....
