Know how I know you know nothing about South Texas....

That's a fantastic "I know you are but what am I" level retort. But other than my living there for 18 years, and having traveled extensively through both Mexico and Central America, you're exactly right. I lack the proper context. I'm sure you can educate us all on why Mexico is a better "fit" for these people. Go ahead.

Yeah, no.  You guys are trying to claim that the folks fleeing violence and poverty in in South and Central America should stop in Mexico where almost the same conditions are present.

They won't stop there because Mexico does not tolerate immigrants who only want to live off the government tit. Mexico is a huge country, not everywhere is riddled with violence and poverty like the border towns.

Why would they want to come to the USA that has such a violent gun problem?  School and Church shootings, gang violence, think of the children and stay in beautiful Southern Mexico.

Yay there's another familiar urban legend / racist trope that's been bandied about for the past 50 years.

Especially as we are trying to "recover" as a country.  We are a waning superpower that really isn't "the land of opportunity" anymore.  You leftists should spread that word on your humanitarian missions to Guatemala.

Can someone link the bill that Trump signed, or the executive order, that started this process?

It was a memo from Jeff Sessions.

Why not answer the question?

If this activity of kids being ripped away from their parents is happening, is it wrong?

Who is pressing them to cross illegally into the US when they are in the safe haven of Mexico, away from their country of origin?

Along those lines, the U.S. does not accept asyllees entering from Canada.  The same is true vice-versa.

If there's one thing you can deduce from people who willingly uproot themselves from their home country to frogger a continental gauntlet...is they're lazy.

So none of this is really happening? Whew.

You can stop posting now.

Are there a lot of Inuit fleeing the Arctic Circle because that's the only way the situations would be the same?

All I see is a renewal of previous policies.

Where is the part about "ripping kids away from their parents and send them to concentration camps"?

You seem to be under the impression that immigrants in the United States do. That is incorrect.

Answer mine. It's a simple question.

Absolutely.  That's the funny thing — he's referencing (different) Obama policy for which Obama was long criticized by the left and labeled the "Deporter in Chief", and citing reports that were used at the time to criticize Obama.   Like the picture posted earlier of a street protests against Obama, the evidence that nobody cared when Obama did the "same thing" is... people caring about what Obama was doing.

And all of that while the Republicans/Fox News were attacking Obama non-stop for being weak on illegal immigration. The people screaming "but Obama!" now had absolutely no clue at the time.

That's the zero tolerance part. The zero tolerance policy has resulted in family separation.

How is it racist? Unskilled is unskilled no matter what race the person is.

It is a crackdown.  A crackdown timed with a surge at the border.  The policy hasn't changed per se, it has just increased in quantity.

It’s not just about age   Whites lost their majority status in Texas and turned it into a minority-majority state quicker than expected.

And somehow a Muslim Kenyan Marxist Socialist was able to beat a war hero and then a wealthy businessman.

Trump is the last gasp for a lot of these people.

Except Trump received 115,204 votes less than Romney did in Texas for the popular vote. And Obama got 356,704 less votes in 2008 for his first term than Hillary did in 2016.

Other than facts, it's a solid argument.

So it's not a law, its a policy, one in which Trump could say stop right now..........but he doesn't. So where is the moral outrage from the Trumpkins on this? If there is none, then you view this as an acceptable practice as part of a zero tolerance strategy.

And if that is your point of view, it should be an easy thing to admit to, unless you know it is an immoral act that you can't agree with.

Equinox: Well, when you're wrong about a policy that separates families, you wanna keep that train a-rolling, have fun with it.....explore the space....

I deduce that they could have claimed asylum in a number of different countries but chose not to.

In the near future, when there is a legal memorandum authorizing the execution of groups of immigrant children in these camps, Equinox will be here righteously smacking down all the hyperbole about the mass murder of innocent children because the words "mass murder" will not be in the legal memorandum authorizing the executions.

It's honestly mesmerizing to watch all of their circuits fry in real time as they try to blame the Democrats for this.

That's the point. There isn't. They are just doing it. It is a policy of the White House to do so. They can stop any time they want.

Psh, Ann Coulter and the right already are in favor of doing just that, since Israel did it to Palestinian protestors.  Just start shooting anyone who comes within 500 feet of the border.

Just say they were MS-13 members without evidence and boom - either you support MS-13 or you support America.

This is a new policy. The Obama administration did not separate families at the border.

Just now, Al Bundy's Napoleon Hand said:

Guess they're over achievers.

No. They know that once they claim asylum in one country, they cannot claim it in another country. They know that Mexico will not accept them if they cannot support themselves and their family.

Immigration officials must “ensure” that “immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance” and for their dependents. (Article 34)

Uh-oh

Yes, it did.  And it is by law.  It is one of the Bush-Reid immigration reforms, but the name escapes me.

If there is a law, you should be able to cite it.
