With garbage humans, you at least know what they believe. They have skin in the game. With the pundit class (and the pseudo-pundits on forums), they exist as almost nothing at all but hot-take-makers desperately searching for ways to seem above the fray no matter what is happening, no matter how trivial or important. Living, breathing instantiations of "Well, actually..."

lol THIS BITCH WENT TO A MEXICAN JOINT OF ALL PLACES????

I'd love to drop Laura Ingraham's boney ass into one of those tents since she thinks this is like kids going to summer camp.

Here comes the Fox News/RWNJs "SO MUCH FOR TOLERANCE HUH LIBS?!"

These people don't deserve to show their face in public, pure evil.

From another border patrol agent, who knows what he is talking about: http://dailycaller.com/2018/06/19/cnn-border-patrol-agent-speechless/

Baldwin then asked specifically about delays for asylum seekers.

Chris Cabrera said bluntly, “We’ve had this situation going on for four years now. I don’t think you can necessarily blame it on one administration or another. It started under one and is continuing under another. It hasn’t been fixed and it needs to be fixed.”

He continued, “Right now we have this beacon of, ‘We’ll leave the light on for you and let you come illegally into the country.’ If you’ve seen some of the stuff we’ve seen, you’d understand how important it is to have a tough stance to divert people from coming here.”

Cabrera then bluntly told Baldwin some of the horrors he has seen.

“When you see a 12-year-old girl with a plan B pill, her parents put her on birth control because they know getting violated is part of the journey, that’s a terrible way to live. When you see a 4-year-old girl traveling alone with just her parents phone number written across her shirt. We had a 9-year-old boy have heat stroke in front of us and die with no family around. That’s because we’re allowing people to take advantage of this system.”

Nope.  They don't.  Here's another one.  At people going to a fundraiser at Trump's hotel.

Dude. She was a really, really shitty candidate. Donald Trump in part because in their hubris the Clintons cleared the field so she could be the nominee. She’s a terrible, unskilled, tone-deaf candidate and the cost of her self inflicted wounds are far greater than all of those things combined.

Hey I disagree and that’s okay.  In some ways she had it coming because she was also great at dirty political tricks.

So the solution is to separate them from their parents when they get here?  Deterrence through barbarism? I get that there are some potentially perverse incentives that should not promote via our immigration policy, but this is not that hard. Bring additional resources to the border to process asylum requests. Once the request is adjudicated, either deport them back or allow entry. Just don't break up the family unit in the process.  It's not that hard. If you want deterrence set the standards for asylum sufficiently high, and the message will get out.

That's the issue. This was rolled out to an already overtaxed Border Patrol. There's not enough judges, shelters and resources. Because Trump's an idiot and Stephen Miller is a demonic nationalist.

One part of the solution is to quit  incentivizing people to bring children with them to the border, which is what we did before Obama de facto opened the border.

History doesn't tell us any of that.  Jesus, I mean let's be real about our history.  Our country was founded on a set of extremely noble principles and concepts. And we immediately contradicted them. Our country was built on the back of slavery with a good measure of systematic genocide, racism, and land grab.  We've had some moments of purpose and clearly positive contribution to the world, but let's be honest with ourselves and not white wash our history with the cloth of some exceptionalist hagiography. Moral superiority?  In what fantasy world? We are extremely flawed, we have always been flawed, and will likely continue to be flawed. And we need to always be trying harder to be less flawed. I don't take issue with the rest of your post, or the conclusion that we need (and can) to find a way to make it work, but I don't think that lens to that place looks backwards to history.~apologetically very anastasishly

In general I agree with this. The strength of this Country is the principles upon which it was founded and the men who tried to implement them. They were truly great men, although also flawed like we all are.

The weakness has always been the reality that in order to fully realize those principles in the situation we were in, certain “others” had to to die and we chose to allow and tolerate certain “others” to be enslaved for a good while and second class citizens for a good while longer.

Its amazing to me how well Kubrick predicted Trump America all the way back in 1980. I don’t think he even realized completely how well it would follow through, but he saw the flaws and the denial so prevalent in this Country and he ultimately did.

Shocking no one the Dems would likely filibuster any bill the Republicans bring to the Senate floor. Schumer is a fucking piece of shit.

Appears the Dems are holding kids hostage, too.

Well he's not wrong. Trump could quickly reverse course but we all know he won't. Schumer is a grand-standing piece of shit who's just as opportunistic as Trump. So yes, Dems suck too if they don't try to get something hammered out when the arm is extended by the other side.

Rejects GOP bill dumb ass. He and every other Dem had signed on their bill.

From the Hill piece...

So Schumer wants Trump to stop prosecuting illegal entry for these family units instead of a legislative fix, is that what it boils down to?

Schumer rejects GOP proposal to address border crisis

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON TWEET SHARE EMAIL

Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) on Tuesday dismissed a legislative proposal backed by Republican leaders to keep immigrant families together at the border, arguing that President Trump could fix the problem more easily with a flick of his pen.

"There are so many obstacles to legislation and when the president can do it with his own pen, it makes no sense," Schumer told reporters. "Legislation is not the way to go here when it's so easy for the president to sign it."

Asked if that meant Democrats would not support a bill backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to keep immigrant families together while seeking asylum on the U.S. border, Schumer said they want to keep the focus on Trump.

"Again, the president can change it with his pen," he said, warning that Republicans would likely try to add poison-pill provisions to any immigration bill that came to the floor.

"Unacceptable additions have bogged down every piece of legislation we've done," he said.

Schumer's opposition to a legislative fix means there likely won't be a quick end to the emotional images of immigrant children being separated from their families unless Trump backs down and reverses his "zero tolerance" policy.

Democrats want to keep the pressure on Trump instead of having Congress assume responsibility for the growing crisis.

Schumer's position immediately raised speculation over how long Democrats would stick to their position if Trump refuses to change his mind.

"Let's hope we never get to that. Let's hope the president does the right thing and solves the problem, which he can do. That's the simple, easiest and most likely way this will happen," Schumer said.

Trump claims the burden is on Congress to keep immigrant children from being separated from their parents after 20 days if they are detained by law enforcement.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on Monday told reporters "Congress alone can fix it."

McConnell on Tuesday sided with the administration and called for legislation.

"I support, and all of the senators of the Republican conference support, a plan that keeps families together," McConnell told reporters.

"We need to fix the problem and it requires a legislative solution," he added.

The GOP leadership supports a bill that would require that immigrant families be kept together in a humane setting while waiting for an immigration judge. Furthermore, it would expedite their hearings to minimize their time in detention.

Remember that time the Dems showed up in mass to this centers, and then refused to work towards legislation, you know their fucking job, to fix the issue. They got so used to Obama doing everything for them, that are confused as to what their duties actually are.

Of course, it's interesting that Schumer would go with the whole, legislation is not the answer hours after cosponsoring a bill that would have made it near impossible for any government agent to arrest a criminal if they had a kid with them at the time of arrest.

You fucks are hilarious.

Can the groups/families be detained together under current law/regs?

Is catch & release the only way to not separate them?

That's not how this works. Congress makes the laws, President enforces them, courts rule on their Constitutionality. Maybe you know, Congress should do their job, instead of abdicating their duty.

Bingo, all politicians are pieces of shit who only care about lining their pockets.

Sure if you want to take the kids to jail with the parents.

That's because 80% of these cases are about asylum, or you know they would come through ports of entry, not illegally enter the country.

Why do they need documentation from overseas? What sea did they cross to get from Honduras to America? I thought they marched through Mexico?

Yes. And they dont need to go jail despite what others are saying.

That’s bullshit, don’t be a rube. This situation is a result of a policy change in May, and the president can easily change it back.

I supported comprehensive immigration reform the last time around and still do. But I would not support support Democrats being bullied into making the system we have even worse in order to get the president and his party out of a jam he created for himself. He changes the policy back the Cruz bill or whatever is maybe worth talking about. But not until this madness ends.

The executive branch/law enforcement is not required to fully enforce all existing laws. It’s never been that way and never will.

I don't necessarily enjoy that this is happening. I have to imagine that if they are risking their life to make the journey, their current situation is dire. So we can accept them and integrate them in a step process or we can turn them away.

History tells us that our country was built on inviting the weak and huddled masses. That this country was morally superior to all others. So that tells me we need to find a way to make it work.

Luckily, there is a market for these people to come and contribute. Our lives are all made easier due to the contributions of (il)legal immigrants. They take the jobs others don't and do it for next to nothing. In return, they pay taxes (see above) and have a lower crime rate than the rest of the population.

Now in regards to the Demi Moore thing, I have no understanding of your point. But I do find it interesting that in our anthem, it states "home of the brave" and here you are so afraid of someone online that you are threatening them with your second amendment rights. Let alone your shaking fear of these families.

Right, and I'm one of the liberal pansies he's always railing against.

So he's really gone? Is that because of all the neg rep? Do we have some kind of auto-ban system when someone gets enough neg rep?

This isn’t about immigration reform or a wall.

That’s what they want everyone talking about instead of the FUCKING BABY PRISONS THEY HAVE CREATED.
