April 11, 20214 yr Anybody out that way. We have friends that had to evacuate, but they didn't lose their home. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/10-acre-wildfire-in-bastrop-county-prompts-evacuations-for-residents-nearby/ Quote Emergency personnel are fighting a wildfire in Bastrop County that has grown to 100 acres Saturday, says Bastrop County Emergency Services District No. 2. The Texas Forest Service says the fire is 15 percent contained. Residents who live in the area near Cassel Way and Kelly Road West were ordered to evacuate. Quote A Facebook post from Bastrop County ESD 2 says the 50 firefighters on scene have been able to fight the fire around every home, and none have been lost so far. Fire Chief Josh Gill says there were 15 structures threatened, and 24 had to be evacuated.
April 11, 20214 yr Yes! Was out at Colo Vista playing golf today and looked behind me towards the end of our round and there was a massive cloud of smoke. Was wondering what it was. Hopefully they got it contained.

January 18, 20223 yr Motherfuck. My folks still have ptsd from that awful shit in 2011. Hope they tamp it down quick.
January 18, 20223 yr "Texas Parks and Wildlife said it was doing a prescribed burn in the area at Bastrop State Park earlier Tuesday, along Park Road 1C." So, its really dry and its really windy. Seems like a great time to do a prescribed burn.
January 18, 20223 yr Popular Post The Texas A & M Forest Service should tell you all you need to know about that
January 18, 20223 yr every tree and brush pile that burns today is one less tree and brush pile that will burn in the next fire. Or the next. Or the next. Those pines will be completely gone in less than a generation.

January 18, 20223 yr Would really suck if it did damage to the scout camp. Had so many good times out there and my dad helps cook for Scouts all the time. Gdi. Did they really try to do a fucking controlled burn today??

January 18, 20223 yr wait. They warn about increased wild fire condition being bad today but they go ahead with a prescribed burn? They could have postponed that for a better day. Now it is up to 600 acres. Way to go, morons.

January 19, 20223 yr Bye Lost Pines forest that will die off in my lifetime due to stupid mismanagement. I've had lots of great camping experiences in the area so I'll at least have that until the dementia hits.
January 19, 20223 yr Could see this smoke drifting southeast across Houston on my way home on the west Grand Parkway.

January 19, 20223 yr I do not understand how this burn could have been given the green light. A swift kick to the balls for whomever gave it the go ahead.
January 19, 20223 yr I dread the day that lightning or another source strikes the ranch we hunt on and the place catches fire. The place has so much deadfall and underbrush trash it will burn like no other. It really does need a good burn off and it will be massive when it happens.
January 19, 20223 yr I was lucky enough to have a neighbor next to our ranch burn brush on a red flag day 3 years ago. We lost several oaks that were struggling with the drought and it burned 50 acres or so. Thankfully the winds were in our favor and the VFD saved all our structures. We had fire 50 feet behind our barn... I cant imagine the idiocy that went into green lighting this burn. Stupid
January 19, 20223 yr Is it wrong that I care more about the pine trees than Circle D estates or whatever the fuck? Some of them were finally starting to look respectable again. fucking aggy Edited January 19, 20223 yr by WBT
January 19, 20223 yr God fucking dammit. I literally was talking with my wife last week about how well the pines have come back since the first fire.
