At least you can just pull one from another amp for the time being. Somehow, I ended up with more power chords than amps, and I have a lot of amps. Still can't figure that one out.

Dude.  You’re supposed to supply the power chords.

Man I plugged the Bassbreaker in today with the Shaggy Screamer and it sounded damn glorious. I love when that happens. Spent a whole conference call gettin down.

I see what you did there.

Oh hells yea. Spill the details.

These belong to a guy named Yannick Gagne. A bunch of these Marshall enthusiasts are making mini rackmount setups for home and small gigs.

Those are bad ass but that Marshall 9200 is a dual 100 watt tube power amp. How is that a home or small gig setup?

How is it not?

Oh I’m all for it. Just seems an odd choice for a purpose built bedroom rig.

Ok this little VHT is dope.

Brand new set of 6L6s. Sounds like a fat old Fender to me. Plus it has this variable wattage knob that really just acts like an early break up knob. Dial it back one or two clicks for just a little bit of break up. Amp tech had it on the bench yesterday, said it’s only really making about 12 watts even with the 6L6s, which is fine with me. It’s not melt your face loud by any stretch but I think it will keep up with a drummer. Pretty impressive for $329 so far.

Of course my tech was bitching about the typical Chinese construction sloppiness. We actually had to hack saw one of the screws off to take the chassis out because it stripped. He says that’s very common on Chinese amps. Still sounds great though, now with one less screw.

Got it used? I have found I'm more likely to end up with stripped screws on used stuff. It may be more of a function of who was taking it apart and putting it back together before you.

It was used. He was pretty adamant about blaming the Chinese. Lol.

Just think of how much easier it will be to lug to the gigs having reduced the weight by one screw

I had somewhat of a revelation with the Katana: I don’t like the crunch//lead/brown channels but the clean channel with the boost “pedals” is great. Much more tube like.

The old Valcos are cool. I've got two of the Vintage 47 repros. I like them a lot.

Me plagiarizing (poorly) a Philip Sayce riff. But man I’m digging the sounds out of the Bassbreaker with my HH Strat lately. The Shag Screamer makes an appearance about midway through.

The GarageBand app for iPhone put a little too much reverb on it.

I really want to say, "You kids get your diodes and transistors off my lawn."

But (grudgingly) that sounds pretty great.

When di we get the photo of AUTF's Super Reverb tattoo?

Rorshachs a Jamaican public restroom joke...(no homo) notthattheresanythin......

Scored a 73 or 74 silver face Pro Reverb today for $750. It’s getting a tune up now. Will have pics next week.

I have a happy.

Ordered a couple of Warehouse speakers to throw in the Pro. An ET65 and a Veteran 30. Hearing really good things about them.

The best sounding twin I ever heard had Warehouses in it.

Warehouse makes good speakers.

Supposedly improved Celestion copies, at 2/3 $$.

Yep. I've replaced Celestions with them. They sounded better.

Modded the tremolo pots to be a mid and presence. Really opens these old amps up when you do that. They need more mid. Did a depth also on the Showman, but that gets muddy on these lower power amps so we skipped it on this one.

The Warehouses sound awesome.

OK boys and girls.   I have a '65 Deluxe Reverb that AUTF fixed up for me.  (Actually, it belongs to my brother...he told me I could have it, but I consider it on loan.)  The speaker had been replaced sometime before he bought it and it needs to be replaced.

What should I go with?

Nice. Wait until they break in.

I spent months considering this same question before I lucked out and found a period-correct Oxford for my 64 DR.

I almost bought the George Alessandro/Eminence GA-SC64, and I still might pick one up down the road. It gets rave reviews, specifically when used in the Deluxe Reverb.

Alessandro's upgrades/replacements should be considered OEM.

I went through a Weber and Jupiter before remembering I had a 1968 Jensen C12N (and 3 backups) for my 73 DR.  Absolute magic.  I don't know if it's the design or the smoke damage, but nothing else came close for me.

So, those Sun Dragon amps that are a replica of Page's Zep I amp...

Saw a few up on Reverb. Cheapest one was $35k.

Geez...

They make you sound like Jimmy Page. Can’t really put a price on that.

I'm sure it won't make me sound like Page.

Damn that is clean.

My brother may have an amp problem.  Can verify these go to 12.
