yikes.  that was awful.  the outside pitch was a ball and the curve ball was a strike.  

the first curve to the next batter was a strike and the low pitch on 2-0 could have been a strike as well.

Another fine outing for Stevens.  Moreland said his WHIP is now around 1.00, which is quite remarkable for someone without elite stuff.

I have. I umpired little league and 13 and 14 year olds in Dallas during the '90s. I had a ball do that and, as a novice, I called it foul when it hit foul ground. The damn thing bounced back fair but I had already called foul and stopped the play. I was always aware of that possibility after an earful from a coach.
