March 11, 20232 yr holy shit that was some classic shakablah. that late game offense just gave me terrible ptsd. they literally did not call any plays or run any sets, they just had kolek pound the air out of the ball before taking a terrible heave with a hand in the face as time on the shot clock ran out. THAT is the shaka smart that i know. just totally hapless, with no late game structure or ideas, just his players out there winging it. that tiger ain't changed his stripes. I'm sure all the Marquette fans are super pissed they won tonight

March 11, 20232 yr y'all remember this shit? IMG_7247.MOV super tight game in the waning moments and you've got four guys standing around watching one guy dribble the clock out before improvising his way to a terrible shot. absolute textbook shaka smart basketball.
March 11, 20232 yr look at marquette's players and observe how insanely easy this was to defend: just spread your players all over the floor/perimeter and have them all watch as one guy either jacks a three or drives with his head down. and then, because shaka does not believe in offensive rebounding, uconn easily cleans the glass and heads back down the court with a chance to tie or take the lead. rinse and repeat for the final two possessions of the game. those marquette fans actually care about basketball. let shaka continue to run his teams like this and we'll see how much they love him in 3-4 years when he's got one tourney win and is back at his level trying to win the NIT. March 11, 20232 yr Shaka lucked into a great guard who can transcend shit coaching. By year four or five he’ll be bumblefucking his way back to 8th in the conference.
March 11, 20232 yr kolek really is a beast. fun to watch too. he's the kind of guy who could become a tourney star...in something other than college basketball as long as shaka is his coach, lol. in all seriousness, i could easily see kolek leading them to the S16, only for shaka to, how you say, bumblefuck his way into 8th in the conference in the ensuing years.

Lol at the dude just standing under the basket. It's like they're looking for the most efficient way to kill any spacing.

Smarter coaches will scheme to make it difficult as fuck for Kolek and force them to actually run offense. Which is, you know…

March 12, 20232 yr Up 26-8 on Xavier halfway first. Offense looks incredibly well coached, great movement with very good shooters. Bizarro world seeing how good a job Shaka is doing compared to the garbage he did at Texas. Edited March 12, 20232 yr by The Ace of Aces

March 17, 20232 yr I stopped reading after the sub-headline mentioned Shaka's "success at Texas". https://andscape.com/features/marquettes-shaka-smart-isnt-making-a-comeback-in-the-ncaa-tournament-he-never-left/

He stole a lot of god damn money from us and made off like a bandit

Ten years. "Success at Texas" Right.

March 17, 20232 yr Watching Arizona last night, and watching Ramey airball the final shot, brought back flashbacks of his horrid game vs. ACU that cost Shaka his job. In that game Ramey was 1-7 FG, 0-3 3PT, 4 TOs. And we lost by 1. I really liked Ramey by the time he was done at Texas, but man those early years were hot and cold.

Was talking Hunter vs Ramey yesterday and the ACU game came up. He’s the basketball Keaontay Ingram. A moment or 2 overshadowing an otherwise decent career.

March 19, 20232 yr Author Good job not fouling down 7 under a minute. 3 TO’s to lead breathing activities throughout. Fuck off Shaka! Suck my dick!
March 19, 20232 yr Lol Marquette should’ve known what they were getting. Making it to the round of 32 might be his peak for them.
March 19, 20232 yr There was nobody when filling out their bracket who said, "Boy, I really like a Shaka Smart coached team over a Tom Izzo coached team with the Sweet 16 on the line," right? Easiest pick of 'em all.
