March 22, 20241 yr Marquette has the easiest road to the Elite 8. If Shaka can't even reach the Sweet 16 he should go ahead and resign because he's committing robbery with what Marquette is paying him. All he has to do is beat a 10 seed to reach the Sweet 16 and an 11 or 14 seed to reach the Elite 8. I'll laugh hysterically if he loses to Colorado.

March 30, 20241 yr marquette’s players didn’t have enough better tomorrows coming into this game, and their SEAL training clearly didn’t kick in. no amount of breathing exercises was going to overcome all that.

Damn you. I was going to ask about Marquette's breathing exercises against N.C. State. If only they had breathed through their eyelids like the lava lizards of the Galapagos!
March 30, 20241 yr The Shaka formula: 1. Play in a so so conference. 2. Recruit a few top quality recruits and a few other athletes. 3. Let them run up and down the floor jacking up 3’s. 4. Win a few games against high seeds by getting lucky with 3 point shooting and leveraging the athletic ability of the team. 5. Beat up on lesser programs in a so so conference 6. Gain a decent tournament seed as a result of 4 and 5 7. Beat the really low seeds. Lose as soon as you run into good coaching, or your 3 pt luck runs out 8. Rinse repeat

March 30, 20241 yr Marquette is the #39 program per KenPom going back to 1997. They have finished 56, 10 and 14 under Shaka, which puts them ~top-20. If I'm honest, Shaka is better than a top-40 coach, and is just on the fringe of the top-25. So, for Marquette he is a great fit. At Texas, he had us with the #23 best average KenPom ranking over his tenure. He had VCU as the #31 ranked team over his tenure there. I wish he would have worked out at Texas. I was really excited when we hired him... almost as excited as when we hired Beard. And he was just about as hot as Beard as a coach when we hired him. But he was such a moron here, that I will root for him to fail wherever he goes. Does that make me petty? Yes. Next question.

March 30, 20241 yr reading a little MUscoop.com most are saying coaching is fine and they just had a bad shooting game. It's like they completely ignore that he loses to double digit seeds regularly...
March 30, 20241 yr marquette fans throwing the entire team under the bus and claiming that shaka had nothing to do with the loss last night: https://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=66037.0

March 30, 20241 yr shaka is very proud to be the only guy out there just ignoring the existence of the transfer portal:
March 30, 20241 yr My favorite part of him sucking and losing to double digit seeds every year is that the Marquette fans refuse to assign any blame to him. The guy may be there 20 years just doing the same shit.

March 30, 20241 yr For me the irony is that I have nothing against Marquette. I'm not even sure I know any alums. I just love watching Shaka Shaka it all up.
November 20, 20241 yr but early season win for shaka and the boys. looks like this year is gonna be different.
November 20, 20241 yr Shaka wins over highly rated team’s can now be easily explained by two things: great athletes free to just run up and down the floor, and three point shooting. If both are hot his teams can beat almost anyone, except really well coached good teams. If one or both aren’t hot, they can lose to anyone. And his teams never get much better throughout the season unless he’s become a better coach thru experience.
February 5Feb 5 lose a game because you got out coached and your team took endless undisciplined shots and had countless empty possessions down the stretch, then spout some hollow nonsense that has nothing to do with anything in the PC afterward. yep, that’s shaka smart. i remember your teams shaka. we weren’t playing with violence when a high school team from abilene knocked us out of the tourney. cool sound bite tho. 👌🏼 Edited February 5Feb 5 by Derka
February 5Feb 5 36% of marquette’s points come from threes. you know what marquette is bad at? making threes. also defending inside the arc. oh, and getting/making FTs. this tiger don’t change his stripes. Edited February 5Feb 5 by Derka

St. John’s shot 19% from 3, 55% from the FT line and lost the turnover battle, yet they still won because they doubled Marquette in rebounding and had 18 offensive boards compared to Marquette’s 2. That reminds me of a certain game against a team from Abilene where the opponent shot 17% from 3 but beat Shaka’s team on the offensive boards 18-5.
February 5Feb 5 And last game they let the other team turn the ball over 25 fucking times and still win. Just brilliant focusness and discipline from the coaching staff.

Holy shit, I am looking at the UConn box score now. Marquette had 9 defensive rebounds for the game, but 17 offensive rebounds. So, they forced 25 TOs and grabbed 17 ORs ending up with 21 more shot attempts and 3 more FT attempts and it was a three possesion game. Holy fuck. Did Marquette just stop playing defense once UConn made it past the half court?
