Just has to start 1 game for bet taker to win? Hmmmmmmmm

What’s your angle?
1)Badasses at the position preventing that from occurring

2) Mediocre comp, but you feel he’ll always be below mediocre

He just simply doesn’t have the body type for the position at the next level, can it happen yes.  But it’s very far from a given.  He’s way undersized right now and with our track record on projects the majority of the time it doesn’t work out, it’s certainly not a stretch to say he never starts at UT.

Thanks. I have been on the boards since 1997 when I was a student at Texas. We've spent decades as fans and board patrons feeling powerless to create any real change. The Internet, social media,

Don’t waste our time with anything under $1000 or a double fisting.

You need to check the recs to get a feel for who people think is dumb.  Michigan may know something about DEs.

It’s never a stretch to bet against a late riser. Though you will always get a lot of heat beating against a kid that plays well in Texas HS Championship game. I have no idea, if ever starts at Texas. I do think it’s a better bet to say Tapp or Finkley will start at that spot over him.

Lulz at “doesn’t have the right body type” when referring to a 6’7” 17 year old kid not nearly maxed out with a frame to hold 30-40 more lbs. Just say what you mean, it’s cuz he’s wyt

The question isn’t can they put on weight. Both can easily get to 250-260. The question is how much much quickness they will lose with and additional 30-40 pounds. It’s not like 6’6” 250 is a big ask

So, who are our remaining targets?

Assuming Campbell signed on Friday, to me the only 2 remaining HS recruit targets are DE Omari Abor and S Jacoby Mathews.  There are some fringe guys (LTG, Dudley, Gibbs, Gatson, Douglas) who they may end up taking if they feel like they have a need to add depth but it’s hard to say how likely that is.  Otherwise I think they’ll shift focus to the portal.  This assumes Greene and Perkins have already made their decisions.

Right but you could say that about any recruit that needs to add weight out of high school. Which is like >75% of DL recruits.

Focusing on having the best NIL platform/structure in CFB will probably be the most important priority going forward. On a Macro level, Texas has the resources and capabilities that very few (if any) can compete with. We need to be the gold standard.

HWH appears to have a very nice structure to it. A base pay for scholly athletes not only incentivizes players to stay, but attracts potential portal candidates from elsewhere to come. Theoretically, this should all but guarantee a very high floor (in terms of talent) for the entire roster.

Bagmen aren’t going away. As long as a tactic works, it will be utilized. You will still have bidding wars amongst schools (bagmen) for the very elite recruits. If someone wants a person bad enough, they’ll over pay to get them. The NCAA most certainly isn’t going to do Jack shit about it.

It’s very early in all of this still, and appears to still be in a “price discovery” phase. Aggy isn’t the only ones with bagmen, but they obviously paid more than all others were willing to go in this cycle (for more than just a few). They’ve essentially set themselves up to either match or increase the amount every subsequent year. The key question is how long they’ll be able/willing to sustain this.

They have some big money that’s desperate to see them win before they are gone.   There’s one billionaire who was in school there last time they won, and that’s all it takes to fund a big time bag game if they are ready and willing.

(Gerry Hamilton) Texas Longhorns recruiting: The board after the early signing period

Quote

The Texas Longhorns signed the No. 5 ranked class in the early signing period, and there is plenty left on the board. The 26 man class signed includes 5-star OT Kelvin Banks, On300 5-star Terrance Brooks and 17 more On3 Consensus 4-star prospects. The strength of the class in without a doubt the offensive line with a mad dash finish. Banks is joined by four On3 Consensus 4-stars and On300 member Connor Robertson. And the top target remaining on the board is another 5-star lineman.

The defensive front also received the attention needed in the cycle. There are six On3 Consensus 4-star DL and EDGE prospects. And that doesn’t include On3 4-star EDGE Ethan Burke. It’s often said that recruiting never stops. And the members of Inside Texas deserve non-stop work to bring all of you the latest on the recruiting front. Here is a look at where things stand on Sunday morning.

Devon Campbell and Texas

On3 Consensus 5-star IOL  Devon Campbell (Arlington, Texas/Bowie) remains scheduled to announce between Texas and Oklahoma February 3. Time will tell if Campbell waits that long to announce a decision. Texas is in a strong position in this recruitment.

Under Armour All-America Game announcements

Omari Abor, EDGE, Duncanville (Texas)

The On3 Consensus 4-star has long been a heavy lean to Ohio State. Texas has re-engaged in this recruitment in the last two or three weeks. There will be others try to make a move with Abor as well as the boards get reset this weekend.

Harold Perkins, LB, Cypress (Texas) Cy Park

The On3 Consensus 5-star playmaker is very likely headed to Texas A&M barring a major shift. Texas and LSU continue to fight.

Jacoby Mathews, S, Ponchatoula (La.)

The On3 Consensus 4-star remains coveted by Texas. The Longhorns have a strong connection due to Terry Joseph. Alabama can say the same with Pete Golding. LSU has a lot of pressure to win this one. Florida is a sleeper.

Adidas All-American Bowl announcements

Earnest Greene, IOL/OT, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Greene has signed a letter of intent with either Georgia or Texas. On3 believes that pick will ultimately be the Bulldogs January 8. Texas Longhorns offensive line coach Kyle Flood did tremendous work to get Texas into the final two.

Larry Turner-Gooden, S, Mission Hills (Calif.) Bishop Alemany

The On3 Consensus 4-star will announce for either Texas, Colorado or Maryland January 8. USC could be a late player, assuming Turner-Gooden hasn’t signed a LOI. The Texas Longhorns have been considered the favorite for weeks, if not months.

Potential February targets

T.J. Dudley, LB, Montgomery (Ala.) Montgomery Catholic

It remains to be seen if Texas will push for the On3 Consensus 4-star. Florida is likely to set up an official in January.

Caleb Douglas, WR, Missouri City (Texas) Hightower

The On3 Consensus 3-star will make an official visit to Florida January 15. The Gators having wide receivers coach Keary Colbert in the fold is key in this one, as Douglas was a one-time USC verbal. Texas offered in early December. It remains to be seen how hard the Longhorns will push.

Portal target

Ryan Watts, CB, Little Elm (Texas)

The Ohio State transfer is considered a lean to Texas with LSU, Baylor and others in pursuit. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder with two interceptions to his credit for the Buckeyes would like to have a decision by late this week. He plans to enroll at the college of his choice in January.
