Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

Featured Replies

Seems like Murphy started to get a little more comfortable on that last drive and made a couple plays. Have to remember that Murphy hasn’t played football since 2019 and this is his first varsity start.

Having said that, he looks rougher than I expected, and he’s definitely not a 5 star right now. This guy is a huge project and it’s a little tough having him be the take the year after we take Wright. I’d much rather take someone like Murphy the year after we land a stud QB, but Sark can always utilize the portal if we need to fill in a year.

Thanks. I have been on the boards since 1997 when I was a student at Texas. We've spent decades as fans and board patrons feeling powerless to create any real change. The Internet, social media,

I work closely with a certain previously committed 5 star QB's father (hint: its Quinn Ewers, for those who haven't been following recruiting closely like I have) and chatted with him a bit this after

The big thing to look for is if he makes noticeable improvement between game 1 and games 3-5.

Yep. It’ll be interesting to see the season play out. Unfortunately, it looks like his OL won’t give him much of a chance in a lot of games this year.

Third quarter underway. Serra gets the ball and actually calls a short pass on 1st down for an easy completion. Game stopped again due to injury.

Ideally Casey wins the job, starts two years and card starts the next two years.

Murphy underthrows a streaking receiver on a vertical for an easy pick.

The clown show continues. Poly QB gives it right back and now Serra has the ball at the opponent's 10.

Murphy delivers a strike up the seam for a TD.

I would walk away for 5 minutes and miss his first TD.

Nice hold on the DE.  Keep waiting for them to settle down so maybe this will help.  Long Beach Poly is awful. Feels like this is an episode of Last Chance High School.

Serra defense showing some life and gets the ball back to the offense. A first-down run finally gains more than three yards.

Fuck--cut it inside from the sidelines and it's a TD.

Murphy keeps on the zone read and shows some wheels. Change of direction isn't anything to write home about, though.

Their OC finally got a clue and realized that his QB will settle in with short throws.

Murphy goes back-shoulder on a fade for an incomplete pass. Not sure that was the right decision.

that’s not happening lol

And also that his OL is dog shit and can’t block for him anyways.

Another on-time quick throw gets the ball to the one. They get stuffed on a 4th down run from the pistol, naturally.

Seems like the big uglies could get a push but nope.

And Polys conditioning isn't good.

4th quarter. First down throw on a slant on the money to move the sticks.

Good play under duress. Pressure up the middle flushes Murphy to his right and he puts one on the numbers to a diving receiver near the sticks.

I just started watching.

Touchdown.

Coincidence?

I think not.

From the shotgun, Murphy steps up and throws a tight spiral to a receiver streaking up the right sideline for a touchdown.

His footwork still looks strange but his pocket presence is night and day from the first half (protection has improved, too).

Poly ties the game at 21. Murphy and Serra will get the ball with 6 minutes left.

First down from the gun... Murphy with the hole shot down the field. Not perfect location but still a good throw.

Murphy is starting to look a lot better.

Maalik makes a couple really nice throws under pressure then averts disaster with a throw into traffic after escaping interior pressure.

Jerseys look like Duncanville v DeSoto... Play on the field looks like those schools' 4th stringers

Murphy sacked on the opponent's 40. He truly didn't have a chance on that one. They're punting.

Let’s see how far maalik can throw it on this Hail Mary.

Bold of you to assume his line will let him get off a hail mary.

First game is always knocking off rust and surviving without injuries with a W.  Nice last second save by the defense.
