Little Sark after Dark action! He’s white so I bet a 9.95er puts out a JJ Watt comp at some point

Wow, this has been a fun day.

How he fits at Texas: Swanson is already proficient in the art of playing explosive through the offensive line, which is the name of the game in the 2-4-5 where defensive tackles need to be able to play through guards. He generates a lot of power through his hips but also brings quickness off the ball and will motor his way to plays after collapsing the pocket or pushing through half a man. Swanson could grow into a versatile tackle who could play the nose or 3-technique, versatility which is a preference for the new scheme, and be able to make an impact in the backfield while using some 2-gap techniques. – Ian Boyd

Coach says: Strengths – Good height for DL. Will easily add bulk. Strong at the point of attack and quick through the gap, he’s a problem for nearly all high school offensive linemen. Good acceleration. Well built through the legs and hips, he transfers a lot of lower body power efficiently. Will consistently show some polish in the pass rush: Speed to power, bull rush, swim and spin move (on opponent tape). Will anchor well against power and will challenge and split the double team. Is a heads up player and sees the play develop. Very disruptive once he’s in the backfield with a good bit of speed to close on the ball carrier. Shows fairly consistent tackling mechanics. Likely has position versatility. High motor player.

Areas for Improvement / Concern:  Not sure about his lower body/hip flexibility. Opponent tape shows him struggle to change direction. Will let smaller players into his pads. Will get off his center of gravity at times. Level of competition is a slight concern.

I know his Dad very well.  His old man played at Stanford FWIW.  Good kid, good family, great pickup.

When they do, we’ll know they got it from you.

Or maybe I am a 9.95er sock? (He says as a person who’s voice you can hear weekly and who has publicly shotgunned many beers on camera)

Stanford?  Are they gonna swoop in next fall and steal him?

I pegged him more of a Howie Long or Bob Lilly but I can see it

Remind me... is this an instance in which pussy is remaining unbeaten? I sort of recall that being the case

Today has been a good day for recruiting in general.  Good gets by Sark and Beard.

Does she do hypnoses?  I've stared the last 10 minutes and have gone cold turkey on everything else around me.   Those could sell a lot of t-shirts.

(Blair Angulo) Commitment analysis: DL Zac Swanson

Quote

PLAYER PROFILE: Zac Swanson

POSITION: Strong-side defensive end

HEIGHT: 6-4

WEIGHT: 255

LOCATION: Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy Prep

RECRUITMENT: The three-star prospect announced his commitment to Texas on Monday night, choosing the Longhorns over fellow finalists Kentucky, Oregon and USC. Swanson had amassed 16 scholarship offers during the process but it was Texas, which was the most recent offer back in mid February, that closed strong. The Longhorns held all three votes in the 247Sports Crystal Ball leading up to the announcement.

SCOUTING REPORT: Well-proportioned frame with decent length and growth potential. Carries weight well and could continue to add bulk. Strong lower half. Aggressive lineman who gets good push at the snap. Shows ability to extend arms upon contact to generate momentum into backfield. Maintains good pad level as he fights through gaps. Flashes nice array of pass-rush moves and knack for shedding blocks. Displays forceful punch and wraps up on tackles, showing awareness in run support. Explodes out of his stance and gets would-be blockers on their heels fast. Could continue to improve gap integrity and refine the routes he takes to the football. Potential multi-year starter at elite Power Five level with chance to garner serious NFL Draft attention. Swanson is rated the nation's No. 24 strong-side defensive end and No. 6 overall prospect in the state of Arizona for the 2022 class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.

247SPORTS' TAKE: The Longhorns have once again struck in the Grand Canyon State and it could be just the beginning of a Westward bonanza for first-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff. A lot has been made about Sark's ties out West, how that could benefit the Longhorns in their efforts to scour the region for prospects and battle the Pac-12 schools -- and other select programs from across the country -- for talent. All of those expectations have been warranted. Several staff members have a good reputation in the region and, the longer the dead period has dragged on, the more those relationships and connections pay off. Swanson's commitment has provided a clear example of that factor. The likes of Oregon and USC were involved, having offered Swanson earlier, but the momentum shifted as soon as the Longhorns entered the picture. No coaching staff was pushing harder for the talented defender and it's paid off. Texas continues to garner attention from recruits in Arizona, one of the most talent-rich territories outside the traditional pipelines such as California, Florida and Georgia, and that could only be a plus for Sark moving forward.

I was texting with them earlier and they all seem pretty excited.  I think this one is safe.  Zac wants to carve his own path.

Bangs on the 3rd one are awful would not bang.
What about the two sets of pointy elbows? Simply disgusting..

And btw, the jersey in Zac's commitment graphic appears to be actual burnt orange. Do such jerseys actually exist?
