May 7, 20214 yr Fuck. Just a kid. Most of us probably only really knew him as Sam's little brother. Looking forward to more tributes like Overshown's to shed light on who he was as his own person. I too have spent a good chunk of the evening fighting back tears. Wish we could take away some of the pain from this poor family. What more can you say. Fuck this.
May 7, 20214 yr Popular Post Came here to Surly to express my deepest condolences to the Ehlingers, Longhorn Nation, and all who love Jake. We love our players, even if we don't know them personally, and this is just so sad. May Jake rest in peace, and rise in glory.
May 7, 20214 yr I've spent the last hour with my not yet two year old boy in my arms reading these tributes. I cannot comprehend what those who know and love him are feeling. Healing and love for the Elhingers and enjoy the Joy Jake. Hook 'em!
May 7, 20214 yr Popular Post Overshown brought the waterworks with his beautiful tribute. Nothing I post can come close. 🤘🏼🧡

I am at the gym trying to work out and hold the tears back. Wish my kids were in hugging distance. Told her I love her. Sending my love to my son now.
May 7, 20214 yr RIP Jake and god bless that family. I have kids in that west campus circle and they knew Jake well ... just tragic. Hits very close to home and I can’t imagine ever getting that phone call. Not going to post what I’m hearing right now ... just want my flock home (and safe) for the summer.
May 7, 20214 yr With mother's day this weekend, there must be something creative that Longhorn Nation can due to rally around Ms. Ehlinger.

May 7, 20214 yr Man, I’m just so sad. Sad for a young man losing his life before it really even started. Sad for a family that’s already been through unspeakable tragedy. Sad seeing those pictures of Jake and Sam as little boys and thinking of my two little boys. I’m just damn sad. Prayers to the Ehlinger family, the team and all of Longhorn Nation as we navigate through this.

May 7, 20214 yr Wow! Such sad, heartbreaking and devastating news. You can tell by the tributes that he was well loved among his teammates. His family has had to endure too much. Prayers for Sam, his mom, his sister and all of those who knew and loved him. May they all be comforted by God's grace, love and mercy. RIP Jake.

May 7, 20214 yr Overshown’s words were remarkably sincere and eloquent for a young man of his age. To know what it means to share your time on earth with the people who matter to you is wisdom many don’t ever grasp. He’s a good man.
May 7, 20214 yr I cant say anything that hasnt already been said. This is fucking awful any way you slice it One thing is for sure... im betting the house on us scoring 7 TDs in our opener against ULLa.... and taking a knee instead of kicking the last extra point
