November 6Nov 6 Nothing says tough guy like kneeing a man in the face when he has handcuffs on. Quote Initially, prosecutors charged Oestmann with misdemeanor assault. The case was ultimately resolved through a plea deal where Oestmann pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor menacing charge. The terms of the agreement allowed him to have the guilty plea wiped from his record in one year, provided he adhered to court orders, and he served no jail time.
November 6Nov 6 Side note. You might be surprised at just how many people with mental illness are charged with felony assault on a police officer for either spitting or resisting arrest in which a cop gets a light scratch or bruise. I'm all for supporting the police, BTW, but it really is unconscionable for the police to charge people with felonies for basically freaking out in the midst of a mental health crisis. There are thousands of people with mental illness in county jails right now facing felony charges under just this scenario. (To be clear, I know the dude in the video was not in a mental health crisis. He looked drunk as hell, and he was an asshole. Just saying, the circumstances are similar -- and even worse when it's a person who is having a legit MH crisis.)

I am often grateful for status conferences and prosecutorial discretion.

There’s a fair chance that every employee inside a given Waffle House has spent time in jail. Because of their hours and late night clientele, I wouldn’t be surprised if they stand around talking about what they would do in the event violence breaks out.

My worst nightmare is having to live in an apartment complex near animals like this. Who thinks this behavior is remotely acceptable? These people were born human but they are now something different. They are like people who have drunk the blood of a vampire but haven't made their first kill. They will never be human again. Who lives like this?

Loud music during the middle of the day, people loitering, kids riding their bikes completely unfazed by drunk or drugged out people fighting like it's normal. That entire complex needs a Thano's snap. No one would even notice. Maybe a few poorly crafted and ill fitting T-shirts with their photo on them to memorialize.

Not sure if she's faced employment or other consequences. She is obviously BSC. I wonder if the boyfriend knew what she was capable of, or if it was a relatively new relationship and he got sucked into her crazy. By the way, she sure looks like wheelhouse for at least a segment of surly.
