RIP to the worst talk show guest of all time (an intentional put on), which made him one of the best talk show guests of all time. He had the balls to keep the bit going. Just found an example, Carson anticipated a battle, and got it. I love it when Grodin randomly asks him, “Do you wear eyeliner?”

One of the best movies ever made! RIP.

he was also fantastic in  Seems Like Old Times with Chevy and Goldie, and also in The Lonely Guy with Steve Martin.

Can't say I was ever a fan. In fact he annoyed me. But his visits on Carson were gold and his interview show was very good.

One of the great ones. Love the characters he’s played.

Back when talk shows were fun.

Fantastic.

The best was when he brought "his attorney" to Letterman. So fucking good.

Damn funny guy who knew how to get the most out of dry, sardonic whot and a look. RIP to the Duke!

For a good portion of my life I considered that my favorite movie.  RIP.

Hell yeah.

Let's all go run the Litmus Configuration.

He was one of my favorite actors as a kid bc of Great Muppet Caper and The Incredible Shrinking Woman.

He was always gold on Carson.

Best work he ever did was the blind man scene in The woman in red

Serrano finally got the Duke.

RIP, Charles. I liked your work very much.

He was also brilliant in The Couch Trip.

Man, I loved Great Muppet Caper as a kid. He's fantastic with Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase in SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES TOO

also stole a few scenes in "dave", an underrated classic.

Goddamn Yaphet Kotto 2 months ago. The Midnight Run cast taking it hard in '21.  De Niro, John Ashton and Joe Pantoliano need to watch their asses.

RIP, one of the greats.

Yet another gem was his cameo in "So I Married an Axe Murderer"

"I'm with the San Francisco Police Department, I would like to commandeer your vehicle."

"............No."

I thought he gave a very realistic performance as someone who really, really wanted to fuck Miss Piggy.

RIP

More obscure, but I liked this character

I own that on DVD. Watched it again just a few months ago.

I have a better collection of Steve Martin’s work on DVD, CD, and text than any other actor/comedian. And by “text” I mean I still own a copy of The Cruel Shoes.

What a wonderful actor he was.  Going through all of the posts and remembering some of the roles he played is like walking back through my childhood.  King Kong, Heaven Can Wait, The Great Muppet Caper, and Midnight Run are all burned into my brain from watching them a loving every minute of them.  This one really sucks. He was an absolute comedic genius.  RIP Duke.

I think, technically, Serrano is with the Duke and has been waiting for the Duke for a couple of years. 😔

Seriously, check out The Couch Trip. Grodin, Dan Aykroyd, Walter Matthau, Aykroyd’s super-hot wife Donna Dixon. Also SNL alums Mary Gross and Victoria Jackson. It’s hysterical and highly underrated. Watching the tributes I haven’t seen it mentioned.

Weird timing. I just showed Clifford to my kids for the first time on Sunday.

That's amazing.

That would never be made today. Isn't he trying to kill the kid by the end?
