Twice now that Simon has been caught off his line. As bad as Spain's backline has looked, he's somehow been worse. Miraculous that Italy didn't score on at least one of those.

Taylor Twellman is such a beating.

he is.

and he thinks he's andy gray or martin tyler which makes him insufferable

the other day he called chris coleman "cookie" more than a dozen times in a 1-hour show

plus he was the prototypical overhyped exhibitionist that never delivered for the nats in full internationals, a-la colbi jones

Immobile thought he could score when his first touch should have been a quick pass Barella. That hesitation gave Spain enough time to regroup. It was a quick decision that was understandably hard to make in the moment.

The Italian defense is also having a tough day.

Italy would never...

Donaramabanana needs to stop passing the ball to Spain or they're going to convert one of these to a goal.  I wasn't sure how Spain would score on the Italian defense, but if Italy's keeper is going to keep trying to set up Spanish goals they just might get one or two.

Of course they would.

But we are talking about 1 and 1A of divers overzealous foul sellers in this game.

Brazil is the flopping-est team I've watched this summer.

Olmo making a number of selfish moves so far.  Not to pick on him, lots of mistakes, but passing and pacing have been solid. Gonna be a long one, or feel like it anyway.

Another solid no-call by the ref there. Italy bombed up the field, but should have passed. He lost the ball well before getting tripped.

This summer??

I'm not implying they just started diving and flopping like mad.  I'm just limiting the comparison to the current versions of these teams.  Any team with Neymar is likely going to be the worst.

Just a bit outside

I just realized how funny Bob Uecker would be calling international football.  Damn.

Well, Spain have to be frustrated they didn't break through.  2/3 of possession and a 5-1 edge in shots (1-0 on target).  It seems like they're controlling the midfield but it hasn't been there in the last 1/3.

LOL.

Replay shows the Spanish player blow up the Italian player with a hip check.

Next clip - What did I do? look.

What would you expect him to do, thank the ref for calling the foul?

(Just giving you shit for your stupid remark last week.)

Jesus, even when they're just talking pre-game in the tunnel, the Italians are just whining to each other with dramatic hand gestures.

Still, they're gonna take advantage of Spain's back third.  I'm worried.  Spain seemed to get into another gear though, just speed-wise in the open pitch after about 10 minutes of awkward staring.

And away we go...

#3241

What was that? Almost like they stood around to watch.

Didn't matter. You can't defend that shot.

To be fair, this is going to ratched up the pressure on Italy now. Spain has been all over them with pressure, they are probably going to take it to 11.

Great counter, great finish.  Spain got the first tackle in the box but no one was there to clean up.
