Didn't expect to lose these two within 5 months, but they will forever be best friends.

I hope they're snoozling together in the sunshine forever more.a95e8d4c41312aa64e8a95aede7023bd.jpg

Sorry to see this. That’s rough.  A good, loving pet is such a blessing.

I was expecting a more uplifting thread so here's a majestic pussy

Great picture and awesome cat. Not my intent for this to be a downer thread. Celebrate those awesome cats, y'all.

Since losing awesome dog part-II almost six months ago, all that’s left is this cat that Little Homesick made me buy him while I was going through my divorce. The fact that I paid actual American money, for this animal baffled me. The the shop owner, upon seeing the malnourished, terribly flea ridden, crusty black cat in the back of the cage (behind some of the prettiest kittens I’d ever seen) said, “if that’s the one your son wants, you can reach back there and get him yourself”.
He didn’t even smirk when I asked him if I could get $5 off for doing his job for him.
Since then, Beans (Little Homesick has a penchant for names that are awesome, and he was four at the time), has been one of the coolest animals I’ve ever had the honor of being acquainted with. Not only do full sized dogs pull their owners across the street upon setting foot on the sidewalk that borders Bean’s territory (as he sits on the rocking chair, cleaning his teeth), but I had the honor of receiving a letter from our USPS mail carrier letting me know that I could pick up my mail at the local post office. She was done seeing headless squirrels on my doorstep.
Beans is a killer, dyed in the wool. But he’s also a lover, who has completely changed my opinion of cats.

I’m sorry for your loss man.

Bad cat

King snake is good snek, did she kill it?

I don't think it would be curled/coiled like that if dead.

There's a play aspect to most cats' hunting.  Seems like the less likely prey, bugs, lizards, snek, the more likely they are to just play with it some.  That play can be fatal though.

My cats like to play with mice and chipmunks they catch.  Problem is they bring them inside to do it and don't always finish the job.

Not the best pic as most of my animal pics are of my dog Crosby (RIP).  But this here is Jack (orange) and Skylar.  They are really awesome cats.

The snake survived after being relocated to the roof.

By the way, Skylar, who looks like a big puff ball, is a stone cold killer.  She takes out 2-3 birds every week.  I wish she wouldn’t, but there’s no stopping her.  And she brings them to us as an offering.

Well, you could keep her in the house.  We lost one during his adventures, and I actually trusted him outside (not the hunting part).  It's safer for them and safer for the "environment."

Had cats since the day I was born... can't imagine a house without one (well, two).  We have a Siamese Mix and Snowshoe... great cats.  Agree they are best inside... outdoor cats are ruthless hunters and, at least in this part of town, eventually end up becoming acquaintances with coyotes or foxes.

I think I live in your part of town 78749 and this one above has a cone on because she likes hunting outside. Not sure what ripped up her tail - $700. Fine now but

Hopefully she survives going out but the foxes and chayotes are dangerous . I tell my daughter and wife she can’t be out at night

The cat is a badass I admit. More of a dog really. Luckily my dog scares off a lot but she’s normally on the couch

Yup - we're an adjacent zip code but right by lots of greenbelts, parkland, etc. so lots of wildlife out here (love the roadrunners).  We have two neighborhood cats that like to hang out at our house and they seem to be doing fine but you do wonder at what point they will disappear.  We can think of two other neighborhood cats that disappeared within the past two years... most likely coyotes.  Sometimes you can hear them after a kill in Circle C park.

I have 5 cats, we didn't plan 5 cats, but they all needed homes. I said enough at 4, but the elderly partially blind cat that took up residence in our sideyard was hard to find a home for.

If we ever have to go to PetcoSmart for food or whatever, we try to avoid cat adoption days and stay the fuck away from the cages near the cat food.

Biscuit doing the blep and one of both of them after getting super high on catnip. We got him as a bday gift for my daughter in April and he has fit in well with our older black cat. After our last cat passed away (RIP Izzy) it just felt weird not having two fuzzbutts in the house.

My cat must be broken. Cuz catnip does nothing. Maybe a brief 5 sec freakout/enjoyment. But later nada.

Perhaps your cat is a recovering catnip addict and has conquered its addiction. Or at least it has become a more sensible drug user.
