June 2, 20214 yr The Atlantic's breakdown at end of season. Quote Funds boosted by £70m for winning CL, which is taken above £100m after broadcasting revenue £100m+ received for PL finish Lessons need to be learned from 2015 and 2017 when backup players were signed to strengthen the squad and didn't work out Players wanted are: Striker - Haaland, Kane, Lukaku, Martinez Right wing back - Hakimi, Traore Centre back - Sule, Lacroix, Torres, Kounde Midfielder - Rice, Tchouameini Giroud and Abraham are expected to leave Broja could take up a backup role Chelsea have improved relations with Raiola since he became Haaland's agent Dortmund do not want to sell Haaland this year, instead preferrin to let Sancho leave Spurs do not want to sell Kane to a London rival (are they our rivals at this point) Lukaku is seen as more realistic but is still difficult, he would become record wage and record free simultaneously Chelsea have a longstanding interest in Hakimi dating back to his Real Madrid youth days, his signing has been discussed extensively by the Chelsea hierarchy James could be used as a RCB, with Azpilicueta 32 in August Traore has also been linked at RWB Niklas Sule has been sounded out at CB, Lacroix has been mentioned as another possibility. Others include Pau Torres and Jules Kounde Declan Rice has been discussed between Tuchel and staff members, with an interest being retained despite Lampard leaving. His primary position would be in midfield. Since West Ham may not want to sell Tchouameini is being considered as an alternative One surprise is that there is some truth to the Donnarumma links. However, it would depend on getting Kepa out of the door. Chelsea will listen to bids for Ross Barkley, Emerson, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater, Davide Zappacosta, Michy Batshuayi and even Kurt Zouma Zouma does not fit Tuchel's style of play and could bring in a decent fee, however this is dependent on incoming signings in this area No indication CHO wants to leave Gallagher, Guehi, Ampadu, Broja and Sarr(?) will be looked at in pre-season with a view to joining the squad Gilmour has a choice on whether he goes out on loan or not, which would impact Lewis Bate's position with a promotion to the senior squad possible Tino Livramento is worried about his possibility of a breakthrough due to the competition in his place. Especially if Hakimi arrives PAOK are trying to buy Baba Rahman

June 2, 20214 yr How accurate is Transfer Markt usually? I go there often but have never really questioned them. For example, is Mason Mount really worth ~20M more than Kante? I would think Kante would get more than Mount, much less 20M less. Or is it just age related at this point in Kante's career?

They're just estimates. Players are worth whatever the transfer fee winds up being. So if a player transfers for a certain amount transfer market will update their value accordingly and use that as a data point moving forward in trying to determine their valuation. For that specific comparison, yes, it's pretty simply age related. Their position could factor into it as well.
June 3, 20214 yr I don’t even really understand the current title. I mean, I gather that it’s intent is to remind everyone that we’re the best club in Europe and that they should get in line to kiss our ass. It just seems like there is a more elegant/clever way of saying that.

June 4, 20214 yr Tuchel, Giroud, Silva extended... https://www.espn.com/soccer/chelsea-engchelsea/story/4398572/chelsea-manager-thomas-tuchel-signs-new-long-term-deal-until-2024 Spoiler Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has signed a new deal with the club until June 2024, while Thiago Silva and Olivier Giroud have both extended their contracts by a year. Tuchel agreed an 18-month contract when he joined Chelsea in January, but has now pledged his long-term future to the club following the Champions League victory over Manchester City. "I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal," Tuchel said. "I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family. "There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation." Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: "When Thomas joined us in January there was still so much to play for domestically and in Europe. He slotted in seamlessly and immediately became an integral part of the Chelsea family. "Returning us to the top four in the Premier League was crucial, and we could not be happier with our success in the Champions League which crowned a remarkable season at Chelsea. "We are obviously extremely pleased therefore to retain Thomas for a further two years, and look forward to more achievements in the coming seasons." Thomas Tuchel reached the Champions League final two seasons in a row. Photo by Alexander Hassenstein - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images The 47-year-old joined Chelsea after his sacking by Paris Saint-Germain in December. In his first six months at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel has guided Chelsea to Champions League glory, the FA Cup final and a top-four finish in the Premier League. He has taken charge of Chelsea for 30 games, winning 19 and losing on just five occasions. "I will stay hungry for the next title," Tuchel said after the Champions League victory. "My desire is for more victories and to grow as a coach. Chelsea also extended the contracts of defender Thiago Silva and striker Giroud by one year until the end of the 2021-22 season. Silva, 36, was signed from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last August on a one-year deal and featured 34 times for Chelsea across all competitions. Chelsea added that they had exercised the option to extend Giroud's contract in April. The 34-year-old was their top scorer in the Champions League this season with six goals The Giroud move surprises me a bit...
June 7, 20214 yr Yeah, I don't think it's likely, but my god would he be a nice fit with the rest of the attacking nucleus for the next several years.
June 7, 20214 yr More stuff. Also... EH in 2012, EH in 2021. Quote Chelsea are pursuing their interest in trying to sign Erling Haaland this summer, despite acknowledging that any deal would be incredibly complicated and difficult to negotiate. Chelsea have already made attempts to explore whether or not Dortmund would be interested in Tammy Abraham, either as part of a deal for Haaland or in a separate transfer. Chelsea haven't made a bid yet and the cost would be more than £150million and smash their wage structure, but they are working behind the scenes to find out if a transfer could be viable. Chelsea don't want to give up on Haaland since Manchester City are favourites to land Harry Kane if he does leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer and Romelu Lukaku presumably staying at Inter Milan. New striker priortity but they're also evaluating Declan Rice and Tuchel also wants a right-sided player. Dortmund have said they will not sell Haaland this summer, but Chelsea will keep testing their resolve in case they receive a positive reception from Haaland's camp. City are also interested in Haaland and Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on their pursuit of Kane. If City buy Kane, then Chelsea may seize the opportunity to try to negotiate a deal with Dortmund. Chelsea are willing to listen to offers of £40million for Abraham and his sale could help to fund a bid for Haaland. Chelsea are aware that Dortmund would want a suitable replacement if in fact Haaland departs. Not clear whether or not Dortmund are interested in Abraham, but Chelsea are said to have looked into whether the move would interest all parties. Dortmund have been linked with a move for Callum Hudson-Odoi if they sell Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, but Chelsea are more reluctant to let him go.

June 16, 20214 yr I like Grealish a lot and think he is a budding superstar. But yeah, with the current composition of our squad, the PRIORITY needs to be a forward. So don't spend heavily elsewhere and then have FFP issues bidding on the forward.

Not saying you're wrong. I think we are all correct in our assessment that that doesn't seem like a great use of a big Benjamin. Unless we are going to sell CP. Our wing and CM is deep enough. June 17, 20214 yr Grealish is a good player, but I agree that he's at or near his ceiling. Plus, he seems like a dickweed. If 100 million for Grealish is being discussed with straight faces, then 150 million for Haaland is a complete no-brainer.
June 18, 20214 yr Gilmour wins MOTM In other news [ExWHUemployee] Erling Haaland remains the top target, the club are hoping to get closer to a fee being agreed in the next few weeks, Roman Abramovich has been directly involved in the deal to get it done. Mauro Icardi is a backup plan. Chelsea considering signing Sergio Ramos. Source: The Byline on Patreon He also said that PSG do not want to concede defeat in the Hakimi deal, but Chelsea are still favorites. Inter would prefer to sell to Chelsea because of their willingness to get a player in return: Alonso, Kovacic or Zappacosta. Terms with the player would not be an issue. The issue with Ramos is that he would want a two year deal which doesn't fit with Chelsea's policy to only offer one year deals to older players. I really don't want Ramos
