March 14Mar 14 Whoever is running SW's social media really might want to chill for a bit and let the heat blow over: Just booked what will be my last Southwest Flight with bag flying free and used up the rest of my flight credits and points doing so, looking around at the best of the rest of the bad airline options...Loved flying Southwest but the really are no different than Spirit or Frontier at this point in my opinion. I saw a response to this which was “At least Luka got a bag” which was A+
March 14Mar 14 Southwest dying and us finally getting rail between DAL-SA-HOU would be incredible but I’m not holding my breath.
March 14Mar 14 This. I really, really want someone to send me the crib notes of the Business School course that all these Patagonia vest-wearing PE types obviously took. The course that says "enshitten everything. Take something that people loved and were loyal to, find out why they loved it and were loyal to it, and remove every single thing they state as a reason for said love and loyalty." It's about sucking as much cash out of the entity over the next 1-4 quarters, then dumping your stake in the lifeless husk that remains. You do understand that the primary reason they do this is to pay themselves along the way. No course necessary, just abject greed and unfettered capitalism.

Pay us $150k, color in this coloring book for two years, and you too can run Southwest Airlines some day! you mean you're not excited about flying to nashville, switching airlines, flying to rejkyavik, switching planes, and then flying on to your european destination with just one ticket doesn't do it for you? June 19Jun 19 Flying Southwest on July 1st and we were grandfathered free checked bags due to when we booked. Should we be nervous now?

June 23Jun 23 The drunken passenger who grabbed a woman’s hair and spat in her face during an explosive meltdown on a Southwest Airlines flight is a New York City-based artist, who has worked for high-end brands like Maybelline, Steve Madden and Adidas, according to her online profile. Leanna Perry, a 32-year-old illustrator, was filmed berating fellow passengers and throwing a violent fit as travelers and airline employees tried to remove her from the plane at LaGuardia airport early Tuesday morning. The bizarre outburst led witnesses to describe Perry as seeming “possessed” before she was escorted off and arrested. Perry’s social media and website where she shares her work revealed that when she’s not ruining flights, she’s worked as an artist and designer for several major brands including Maybelline, Adidas, MAC, Steve Madden, Hot Topic, and Shein. “Shut the f–k up, don’t f–king touch me!” Perry screamed at the bewildered woman, video shows, before other passengers and airline staff intervened. A Southwest employee repeatedly asked Perry to let go of the woman’s hair — but she refused, videos show. Staff finally separated the two and zip-tied Perry’s hands behind her back — but her tantrum wasn’t over. Perry continued to hurl insults at the woman, calling her an “ugly-ass bitch,” while other passengers also got caught in her verbal line of fire. “I’m sorry black guy! My boyfriend’s black so shut the f–k up,” she slurred to a man assisting the Southwest employees as she stumbled. Perry then lifted her head and spit right in the face of the woman she had been harassing, video shows. The group restraining her then pulled her away. “Your boyfriend’s d–k is like 2 inches big. It’s embarrassing. I’m so sorry about your boyfriend,” she continued in the offensive rant directed at the woman. Perry then said that she “can’t breathe” and fell to the floor between seats, the video shows. “F–k you!” she then screamed as she violently flailed her legs in the air, kicking another passenger, video shows. The Minneapolis College of Art and Design graduate was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct, three counts of harassment and three counts of attempted assault, according to the complaint.
June 23Jun 23 I heard SW is already being sued about this. Spirit wants to find out why SW is stealing their pax.

Look at these screenshots I posted of a Jan 2026 flight from Austin to Dallas. $49 each way with open seating. The next day it’s $116 each way with assigned seats. I’m surprised more people aren’t bitching about this price hike.

Being A-list and possibly not boarding until group 5 is bullshit too.
August 11Aug 11 I'm stuck with Southwest because I fucking refuse to set foot in IAH unless absolutely necessary. I'd wager good money that it is the worst airport in the country.

As long as the CC holder makes the reservation, up to 8 people on the same reservation get one free checked bag. Yeah, I've had the CC forever, so we still get free bags. But shit, my reasons for flying SWA USED to be: - great (frequent) schedule to places I'd regularly travel domestically. - easy to get status (A-list) so I could board priority, even get a companion pass now and again - free bags - with A-list status, boarding relatively early so I get a good seat - affordable, often the cheapest, fare to places like ABQ, LAX, Long Beach, El Paso, etc. Now....pretty much the only one of those left is the free bag, and that's just because I still have the CC, which I use rarely these days.

August 12Aug 12 FYI - annual fees on all the Chase SWA cards are increasing ~50% next year. I'll be dropping mine and looking for other options as the math won't work out for me any longer (based on my spend and other cc reward program options). https://thepointsguy.com/news/southwest-airlines-credit-card-refresh/

That Jersey shore chick with the Ed Hardy trucker hat is one of the reasons why Southwest is doing assigned seats. They need the manifesto of who is sitting in each seat so they can ID people when they start shit. There was also an incident where someone was on a full plane and a ticketed passenger did not have a seat so everyone had to show their IDs to find out who wasn’t supposed to be there and it was a major waste of time.

Okay, boomer. The best part of IAH is the newer parts with the technology that eliminates having to flag down a disinterested server to bring you your overpriced cocktail. Being able to order and pay from a tablet at your convenience and having your shit brought to you while sitting at the gate is awesome.

Flagging down a server wouldn't be such a beating if there was more than one or two humans staffing a restaurant. And having a simple but atypical request (more napkins, alcohol on a separate tab, there's a fly in my soup, etc.) isn't made easier by eliminating human staff.
August 17Aug 17 They fucked up simple things at IAH, like signs telling you where things are. I think it's the only airport we've gotten lost in and it was because there weren't enough signs. Edited August 17Aug 17 by kevwun
August 17Aug 17 After 4 flights on SW in the last 3 weeks I was hit with a new obstacle. I seem to recall that when they rolled out the bag fees that you’d get one free for both A-list and the CC, but bag agent in SD said otherwise… apparently now it’s just the better of the two for a single bag.“So I guess there’s no longer a reason to keep the credit card?” “I guess so…”Given Delta’s immanent expansion at AUS I think I’m going fully that direction.
August 17Aug 17 The credit card will let you cover 1 bag per person for up to 8 people if you bought the tickets with it. One group trip and it pays for itself. Edited August 17Aug 17 by kevwun

August 17Aug 17 Delta pulled a new one on me yesterday - randomly moved my flight 10 minutes earlier with less than an hour notice before flight. Was very unappreciated. 10 min may not seem like much but for a pre-8am flight with two teenagers, sucked. Had never seen that before. Always assumed it was kind of the same rule as a bus - it can be late but can’t be early.

We show up in Buenos Aires for our flight home, 2+ hours early, and they tell us “if you run, you can still make it.” What? Yeah…they moved it up by 90 mins, we had 30 mins to check bags, clear security, and get to our gate. Fuckers.
