Went to app and it hadn't checked me in yet. Clicked check-in and got B26. Why do I feel like I was taken for $20? I'm flying solo with just a backpack so it's not that big a deal for overhead storage but should I have gotten a better boarding position? Figured out recently that it’s better to not get early bird and just upgrade after you check in. It’s like $10 more than early bird and guaranteed A 1-15 (if available, which I’ve only had it not be available once out of like 10 flights). Worst case scenario, if you check in right at the 24 hour mark, you’re getting pretty much what you would’ve gotten with early bird anyway. Edited May 30, 20232 yr by Biff Tannen
July 31, 20232 yr SW, least in my experiences, has a sporadic and arbitrary pattern of comping drinks (not asking for credit cards). I'm obviously not complaining when it occurs but on some occasions the flight attendants are rigid on collecting and charging a card and in some cases, like last night coming home from Baltimore, they didn't even bother. We had four total drinks. Flight was on time, so they weren't trying to compensate for that.

September 14, 20232 yr I have seen an Italian racing team hang out in front of the restroom drinking on a flight from London to Austin. They got wasted and started harassing any ladies that went to the bathroom. The FAs told them to stop several times. After one of them crawled down the aisle to try to scare a friend, a FA finally told them something that made them sit down. It was a British Airways flight. I have never seen Americans pull that. I knew it was about to be fucking ON. He anticipated the stand up beep like an Olympic sprinter. He fucking flew over the two occupied rows in front of us, jumped down to the aisle, and moshed his way out the door like he was on speed at a Motorhead concert.

Bus shows up and all hell broke loose with a mad dash to the front "scuuzi" "scuuzi" with elbows flying. We were not prepared for that and missed that bus. Were prepared for the next one. Then at a later airport, yeah, a bunch of Italians on vacation with assigned boarding groups tried to pretend they didn't understand and make their way to the front to cut in line one after another. We made friends with people from pretty much every single country over that 6 week trip except Italians that kept in their own groups and were total assholes pretty much across the board no matter what country we were in. September 15, 20232 yr Thoughts on Delta's new changes to their loyalty program? They've ditched the MQM, MQS, and MQDS thresholds for tiered status all in favor of your spending by way of overall MQDs. This very closely aligns with what AA does, just spend. As Delta loyalist status is going to be rough, even silver with the new changes. Here is the link for those not familiar. https://thepointsguy.com/news/delta-skymiles-changes/

Definitely a culture shock coming from Texas but next time I know what to expect and won’t give a fuck. We took a cheap Ryanair flight from Malta to Italy. In front of us several rows before takeoff there was a ruckus. There was an Italian guy standing up at his seat yelling at a lady one row behind him across the aisle. She got up and was yelling back at him. She had a little kid with her. Flight attendants came back and were talking to them. They kept yelling at each other using some hand gestures. No clue what they were saying but it had something to do with the overhead luggage. I joked to my girlfriend they were probably married. We are in the airport waiting for our shuttle bus to come. There is only one other family in there waiting. It was them with their kid.

This isn't official but 600+ SWA flights has shown the following pattern for boarding order. I do not believe it is random and a fast check-in 24 hours ahead does not matter. I think boarding is sorted like this: A1-A15 purchased Business Select Tickets A16+ is sorted in order by: 1. A List Preferred + Anytime Fares 2. A List Preferred + Wanna Get Away fares 3. A List + Anytime Fares 4. A List + WGA fares 5. Everyone Else Your Early Bird gets you moved up to the front of which ever tier you fall in. If you don't have any status at all, you are only moving up to the top of the bottom tier. Edited October 13, 20232 yr by CooterBrown

October 13, 20232 yr So I was driving home from Fort Worth a couple weeks ago down I-35W, and I see this billboard: And I honestly thought, "wait--I can get a drag show on my next flight to Vegas? That sounds awesome!" But then I realized it's an anti-Southwest group, and I have so many questions. Like why are you putting up a billboard in southern Tarrant County, of all places? Nobody from southern Tarrant County is driving over to DAL to fly Southwest, irrespective of the culture-war nonsense. And how much did American Airlines pay to front this stupid group? And seriously--why isn't there an airline that will do a drag show on a flight to Vegas?
