I'll take TV characters that they couldn't get away with on shows in 2021 for $200.

RIP Herb. Great TV character.

Matching white patent leather belt and shoes FTW.

RIP Herb

Rocked that ensemble' at a few costume parties over the years

If you're gonna be typecast it might as well be for a legendary character.

Okay fine.

"Somewhere out there there's a Volkswagen with no seats."

One of the four channels we got on our huge outdoor antenna would play WKRP reruns after the news when I was a little kid, loved that show.  (Even though I probably didn’t get half the jokes).  RIP Herb

RIP Herb.  A big part of a fantastic ensemble cast.  That show was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

One of the great sitcoms of that era along with Taxi.  Agreed, Fantastic ensemble cast and writing.  The story involving any one of the characters could have carried the episode any given week.

Bailey and Loni framed him . . .

WKRP in Cincinnati - Herb & Bailey - My Stuff

'WKRP in Cincinnati' Star Frank Bonner Dead at 79, Played Herb Tarlek | TVLine

Well, shit. That sucks. It was great when he folded to Jennifer’s bluff.

It was great when he freaked out over a heart problem and fled from the hospital to a 3-D porn theater. One of the all time great scenes.

And it was great when they did a reality tv show, a literal one, not like we have now, about the Tarlek family.

RIP, Frank. You may now walk through Les Nessman’s fake door.

Just as a reminder. Everyone remembers the Thanksgiving episode. There were also some duds during the series, like when Andy was revisited by an old lover. That was just awful.

But in the episode where Herb fled the hospital and wound up in a 3-D porn theater, the rest of the gang tracked him down and tried to talk some sense into him. There were some great gags where everyone in the audience who were wearing 3-D glasses all simultaneously lurched to one side. Get it?

But then the lights came on, the cops stormed in, someone shouted, ‘It’s a raid!’ Most of the audience ran out of the theater. The first thing Johnny Fever did was stand up, dig his hands into his pockets, and throw whatever the contents were into the seats across the aisle. That was gold.
