May 7, 20187 yr Holy shit, did Russell Crowe get him good. He deserves another oscar for the John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward.
May 7, 20187 yr I freaked out a little at the end. My gullible ass believed it was really over for good.
May 7, 20187 yr Still stunned. Crowe for President of the United States of America and Australia. I couldnt even try to explain what happened to an outsider.
November 11, 20196 yr I think tonight’s episode will be his Emmy submission for next year. Epic finale was epic. Great follow up to a lukewarm effort last week.
November 11, 20196 yr Damn, didn’t know it was the finalé. Seems like he was only on for a few weeks this season. That was great episode. He hinted last year he’d be back with the Bob Murray stuff. What a way to end it.

(And positive rep for the “finalé” with the little French tickler on top of the “e,” I actually copied and pasted yours. I have no idea how to do that.)

November 12, 20196 yr Author That might have been the most elaborate fuck you ever seen on television.

November 12, 20196 yr Thanks, WTB. And in the video above, the musical number starts at about 21:00, not 24:00. That’s what I get for trying to rely on the old memory.

November 12, 20196 yr Bob: “this is some bullshit CGI.” lawyer: “no sir, the city of New York let him close off Times Square just to tell you to fuck off. I’m not sure what legally means sir, but that can’t be good.”
September 6, 20205 yr Well played, Danbury. Well played indeed. Danbury Mayor To Comedian John Oliver: We'll Take Offer To Rename Sewage Plant After You Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton says he's going to make good on his promise to name the city’s $110 million sewer plant after John Oliver and has accepted an offer from the comedian - with one condition. "You must come here to Danbury when we cut the ribbon," Boughton said. Oliver said that he would donate $25,000 to the Connecticut Food Bank, $25,000 to Donors Choose fund for Danbury teachers, and $5,000 to ALS Connecticut if Boughton went through with what was initially a tongue-in-cheek proposal about renaming the sewage plant. Boughton's proposal came after Oliver criticized the jury selection process in the United States in his Sunday, Aug. 30 show. Oliver said errors have led to thousands of Connecticut residents having been left out of jury selection. “If you’re going to forget a town in Connecticut, why not Danbury?” Oliver mused. “Because, and it’s true, fuck Danbury." After the back-and-forth, Boughton announced his decision Sunday morning, Sept. 6. "John Oliver, we thought it about," Boughton said in a video posted on Sunday morning, Sept. 6. "We're going to take you up on your offer - $55,000 if we name this plant after you. Related story - Danbury Mayor To Announce If He'll 'Sign' On To Comedian John Oliver's Offer In the video, Boughton added, "I gotta tell you, $55,000 is a little light for some in the (top) one percent. But a deal's a deal." Boughton added: "Don't Oliver this up. Should you choose not to take us up on this offer, well, I gotta tell ya, I'm already talking to the two Jimmys (Fallon and Kimmel) and to (Trevor) Noah." Boughton also unveiled a personal porta-potty for Oliver named "The John Oliver *** House." "So Mr. Oliver, come up to Danbury, and sit on your throne," Boughton said. Boughton had earlier announced he had formulated a plan regarding the proposal in a video posted on Twitter and Facebook on Friday, Sept. 4. Check the video here and move to the 14:50 mark. “We think it’s fair and reasonable and rational and will help us help some people,” Boughton said. “That’s what it’s all about.” Edited September 6, 20205 yr by RPM
September 6, 20205 yr Not quite as original as the Koala Chlamydia ward named after him courtesy of Russel Crowe, but still good.
May 24, 20214 yr Author The Germans had these camps spread out all over Europe and the women in the camps each got blankets with this technology and they just loved them.

I can't decide if "German Vaginal Blankets" is the best name for my new alt.EDM band or if shouldn't waste it on that and name our new german porn site that. or do we go full Stefon? "Berlin's hottest club is German Vaginal Blanket. This new discotec from promoter Wilhelm 'Wobbie' Keitel, Jr. answers the question, 'Just Following Orders, whuh?' Yeah I love the show, I love John Oliver, but ever since covid hit and it’s been nonstop politics during one of the more polarizing elections in our history, I just can’t watch it right now. I’ll catch up on the season later but I’m just sick of seeing stupid people say and do the stupidest fucking things. Thank Christ Texas baseball is legit this year. It’s been nice waking up and not checking the cloak room every morning to make sure some guy who was our president that one time on Twitter didn’t announce our nuclear codes or whatever. Been a nice little spring since I got vaccinated

May 30, 20214 yr Oliver is smart enough to keep it mixed up. Yes, plenty of politics. But usually his main story isn't political, so to speak. It's more anti-establishment.

I meant the environment in our country has been non stop, multi reality politics. The episodes are still pretty much whatever John wants to talk about, but I’m just burnt out at the moment with anything political or just watching maga assholes make Harry and Lloyd seem like astrophysicists.

June 17, 20214 yr man... this week's piece about prisons with no a/c was brutal, and once again Texas was the star 🙄 as we're all bitching and moaning about 100 degrees already in June from our air conditioned homes and offices...150 heat index inside?? i hope we can all agree that is inhumane. the CO commenting 'we're here to run a prison, not a concentration camp'...wow. who was it that said something about you can tell a country's civilization by the way they treat their prisoners? we're savages by that account. sheesh. 😳
June 17, 20214 yr oh yeah, that was funny! 🤣 man i cannot stand that dude's voice! (sidenote: diff segment, nothing to do with prisons lol)

June 17, 20214 yr I wish he’d get back in the studio. I think an audience helps. I find it odd that Oliver is still not in studio and still amazed Trevor Noah is still doing The Daily Show from his living room couch.

Colbert is just four days into shooting his show back at the Ed Sullivan Theater with a live audience, all fully vaccinated. What makes you think John Oliver could outpace that? Oliver probably adapted to the pandemic better than anyone. Just shooting in front of a white background is still really funny. And Trevor Noah sucks.

He's been back in studio for months and has had a full audience for a few weeks now, I think. The Daily Show really needs a studio audience IMO.

As it becomes less acceptable to uses cultural or ethnic groups as political motivation for voters, the focus will start to turn more heavily to convicted criminals. Well, just the poor ones. If you’re in the market to really abuse/rob/con someone without any repercussions, former convicted criminals are the 2nd best group out there behind only old people.

I've watched a couple of Colbert episodes since he's been back in studio, and I think I may prefer him without an audience. Which doesn't make a lot of sense.
