Substation fires/explosions produce nasty smoke and there is risk of release of toxic PCB's (coolant for some substations). I was near one in the middle of east Denver. I assume they are rerouting power around the affected substation.

That’s a big assumption, that we actually  have electricity to divert.

An electrical fire during a rainstorm. What could go wrong?

My power is still up in Spring Branch at least. If it weren't so gray/overcast today, I could probably see the cloud from my house

Looks like someone left a fork in the break room microwave again.

Where do you live in Spring Branch?

Hey, that's exactly where I live.  I'm at St. Mary's and Wilcrest.  Did not lose any power today.  But it's been awful flaky the last six months.

St. Mary's/Brittmore here, so very close.

We were about 2 miles away when a substation caught fire/exploded in Denver. We lost power briefly. Xcel quickly routed around the substation and our power was restored. The smoke and smell from the electrical was nasty downwind.
