Does he have any eligibility left?  I think we have some money in the wreath fund that we could use to bring him here and have him run our grid.

He's still looking for Capone's underwear.

Good to see we're sticking to news updates here and not thinly-veiled cloak room commentary.  🙄

It’s odd that the MSM & other foreign news sources have almost no reporters on the ground in Cuba helping show the world the unfolding events like they did in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Hong Kong, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Syria, etc. when hot warfare was going on.

In those places you listed, media usually had somebody to hide behind, but nobody has anybody to hide behind here.  Plus, in some of those circumstances, both sides saw the media as a very useful tool.  Here, the non-state media is a threat to the government.

They arrested a popular YouTube personality live on the air while she was giving an interview to some European station.  They beat the shit out of an AP photographer in broad daylight.

More importantly, it was easy to get into those places for the most part.  You can't easily get into Cuba these days, and this happened so fast that only folks who were already there, are there .  Most of the world's media outlets probably had no presence there, because of the other 11 months out of the year, it's fairly boring news-wise.

CNN has somebody there, but he's definitely being very careful what he says.  He's normally providing content for the CNN Spanish-language stuff, not reporting on a potential revolution.

CNN reporter right now....

No idea when this is from.  That little local network thing they have going, they pass this stuff around and around until it gets out.

NBC has a reporter there as well.

  • The story is being covered in their daily narratives by CNN and MSNBC now - both with reporters in Cuba.
  • From the NBC reporter, the demonstrations have cooled off since last weekend.
  • Cuban government has admitted fault (while also pointing, of course, at the US and Covid) according to NBC reporting.
  • The misery continues for Cubans in Cuba.

Moment in which they detain very violently

@YoUsoMiNasobuco

For the simple fact of having gone out to the Malecón to demonstrate in a peaceful way, Ariel, you represent everything they fear, good brother, good friend and with a heart that does not fit on the island.

---

Within the last day or two, and there was this update:

The family have already found Ariel's real location. He is in the "Jóvenes del Cotorro" Prison in a kind of camp where they hold a large part of the detainees. It is a small step but we still demand their release

They are targeting high-profile folks (no surprise).

Yeah, they and the CNN guy are basically saying the same thing.

I've seen some stuff about the demonstrations cooling slightly (although they are going hard in the paint on rounding people up at night), but it seemed to happen at the same time people started talking about some kind of upcoming planned protest.

The government isn’t doing itself any favors by cracking down on the dissenters. It is creating more hatred & resentment and is only postponing the inevitable.

Today they arrested the executive director of an NGO that's focused freedom of the press/expression.

Looks like a Mig 23. Not a fun thing to have hitting civilian targets.

I’m sorry Inka but is seems your data on the MiG is incorrect.

Cuba has three active Mig types in their Air Force. 21's, 23's and 29's. That for sure is not a 21, and last I heard their 29's were active in Ven.

Yes, you can. I have a friend from Austin (ie. hippie cracker) who retired in Belize who has no problem visiting his girlfriend in Cuba.

I haven't asked, but I assume it depends on how hard up he is. My guess is he prefers margaritas on the beach in Belize over visiting his strange in the middle of a revolt.

You really can’t have any half measures here. They could topple the government but they have to go all out. The moment there is a back down it breaks, the government rounds everyone up and it’s a firing squad.
Our founding fathers understood this well. We all stand together or hang apart.
that was a 33/33/33 type of thing which I assume isn’t too far off from where they are. If the people that want change are resolute they will get it. If not they will be disappeared soon.
God bless them and good luck. Mans natural state of longing Is for liberty.

So CR = Radioactive Herpes Aids cultivated in Krokodile?

Matt Groening had a great story that summs up the CR well.

It's a beautiful, sunny, bluebird, but cold day as you ride your snowmobile across a huge expanse of a frozen, sunlit , snow blanketed lake.

Suddenly you flip over, and are pinned by your sled.  You can't get free. You lay there all day helpless, and hoping someone will come along, and help you ... they don't.

At night the ice weasels come.
