Bao snuck up on me.  Really liked it.  But my kids have just about outgrown these kids of movies, so I'll likely miss this one.

Yeah I really don't know what the point of this one is...sometimes that makes it a surprise(like Wall-E), sometimes it doesn't hit it's mark(Like Soul for me)

You didn’t like soul? I thought it was well thought out and really good.

I just feel it didn't quite deliver.  Not a bad movie. MUCH preferred Inside/Out with similar themes.

It felt flat.

I was surprised Luca, that turned out to be pretty good.

Toddler is on to enjoying this movie right now, which is giving me a break from Frozen, Encanto, and Moana. I actually think I like this one a lot. The intro sequence is great. The song is great - actually catchy and a great version of a 2000s boy band hit. Apparently Billy Eillish is a writer for the music, that bolsters my opinion that she is a legit talent. I don’t know enough about Chinese-American (er, Canadian) culture to feel how true everything rings. Ultimately a good story about coming of age, discovering who you are, and being your authentic self in a world where it’s not always easy or what’s expected.
