One of those things is not like the others

Yeah, that's just a snap shot if the broad evolution since GTA III came out in response to your question.

There's a lot more detail to it, hence the link.

If they charged $200 for this game, I would pay it.

I will, no joke, push me to upgrade my TV. As an AV guy, I probably already should have but... I'm cheap.. usually

I was in college when GTA 3 came out. One of the only video games I’ve ever completed all the way through. Can’t believe they are only on 6. There have been others in between that weren’t numbered games right?

Same. I can still vaguely remember picking it up on release day and playing it in our dorm room before class. I was a fan of 1/2 and was obsessed with the idea of GTA in a 3D world. Hype had been building for years.

Vice City and San Andreas were non numbered sequels.

Just announced a delay until Nov of ‘26 (from May of ‘26).

Next November I'll be 37 at release. I was 24 when GTA5 came out.

man it sucks how much of an afterthought it is to be a person who mostly doesn't want to game online. we couldn't have gotten the ballad of fat maude or some underling story for the main bad guy or something with a couple more guns and a car where i can drive around and shoot'em up without a 12 year old calling me the n word online?

That Simpsons meme cuts deep. I remember discovering the original GTA on my PC Gamer demo CD. I'd add a teenage homer & GTA III.
