The 4th most played song on Country radio in 2017:

If you graduated HS between 1998 and 2003, you rocked this tape on your Honda Civic.  Don't lie:

Last night on the Tonight Show was some band called Father John Misty.  It was pretty horrific.  I suspect a bunch of hipsters in Austin may like it though.

All genres suffer from wannabes with little or no talent.

I think modern country bothers me the most, because they've got a monstrous amount of corporate money and machinery that they could put behind anyone they choose, and they choose to put it behind hacks that are aiming so laughably low that the music is a parody of itself.

Starship's effort is solid though.

I've gotten nostalgic for this song.  True.

Grace Slick had a great line about auto repairs for her Alfa Romeo once.

Chinese Opera is really hard to take. Even my Chinese relatives have a hard time listening to it. I remember my first trip to China, when my brother and I backpacked our way through Asia, there was not a lot on Chinese TV, other than Chinese Opera.

It's pretty rough listening.

Ok, Blame it on the Rain had a killer hook and backing track. If Michael Jackson had done the song, it'd be a classic.

Ok, I was confused. I was thinking of "Girl You Know It's True." That song could have been killer with a good singer/rapper like MJ or even LL Cool J.

I don't even know where to start, but . . .  no.  Nowhere close.

Alright smart guy let’s discuss the merits of Owner of a Lonely Heart...

Cons: Totally crap effort by a formerly great band trying to stay relevant in the 80s. Kids love a shitty song with inane lyrics so just add some fucking synth right? Your pros are appreciated

Neg worthy post.

While that video is creepy as fuck,  the opening riffs alone keep the song from being junk.  It may not be a particularly deep lyrical presentation, but it is a good jam in and of itself.

Jimmyjazz is correct.

Y'all leave Yes alone.  Track is not that bad.

Even prog rock guys have mortgages.  What, were they supposed to pay them with their mailbox money from "Tormato?"

Worst thing that you're able to pull up on your car radio, right this moment?  Christian modern country.

I know it exists because I was home for Mother's Day and got to hear a bit in the car.

Grid perfect, absurdly hyper-tuned, thoroughly unoriginal, repetitive, highly-polished, excessively bright and squashed.

Like a fucking chainsaw came to life and wanted to whisper a secret right in your goddamn earhole, except a chainsaw probably less monotonous and more musical.
