Please quit posting propaganda. I’m old enough to remember when people got all bent out of shape after I called it a STD.

Are you trying to tell me that dog didn’t get it from accidentally rubbing its anus on a man’s exposed monkeypox?

The World Health Organization said it has received reports of breakthrough monkeypox infections in people who have been vaccinated against the virus, Politico reported. "We have known from the beginning that this vaccine would not be a silver bullet, that it would not meet all the expectations that are being put on it," said Rosamund Lewis, M.D., the WHO's technical monkeypox lead. Most available vaccine efficacy statistics are from animal studies in past decades, and the agency has said new international research is needed to bolster existing data.

Of course it can, but that’s not the propaganda that will spread

Harris County resident diagnosed with monkeypox dies; undetermined what role virus played in death, officials say

Spoiler

The patient, who died Sunday, was an adult resident of Harris County who was severely immunocompromised. The case is under investigation to determine what role, if any, monkeypox played in the death.

The ambiguity of the article "sever illnesses" coupled with the highest number of cases being in the gay community and the relatively high mortality in immunocompromised individuals leads me to believe poorly controlled HIV infection coupled with Monkeypox. Let's wait for the autopsy results, though.

Caught up with the thread after a while.

Humble Beast should be banned for his abominable anti-gay propaganda, but oh well, just another day in DT.

There's a really sweet metaphor in here about judging the message only based on the messenger, considering all the previous pages' handwringing over messaging to an at-risk group.  That was discriminatory, right?

Abominable propaganda? Banned? You need to calm down.

I’m making an assumption here, but based on your recent negs you don’t like me making jokes about a gay couple’s dog getting monkeypox. Well I can assure you I don’t care at all about them being gay. I started a whole thread laughing at straight Colombian guys boning donkeys. If people get caught or admit to fucking animals I will laugh at it. Baaa means no.

The World Health Organization declared Wednesday that the increasing spread of mpox in Africa is a global health emergency, warning the virus might ultimately spill across international borders.

The announcement by WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus came after a meeting of the U.N. health agency’s emergency committee. The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared mpox a public health emergency on the continent on Tuesday.

WHO said there have been more than 14,000 cases and 524 deaths in Africa this year, which already exceed last year’s figures.

So far, more than 96% of all cases and deaths are in a single country — Congo. Scientists are concerned by the spread of a new version of the disease there that might be more easily transmitted among people.

The writer on the release sucks and needs to learn geography.

It has spilled over International Borders.

From another UN Website.

Mpox cases have been spreading throughout many countries in Africa, particularly the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

Um, those have international borders. It has not spread outside of Africa. And that is the concern. From what I have read on it, gets into large urban areas and could get nasty real fast. The last outbreak in 2022 did impact over 60 countries I think. With a fatality rate of up to 4% this fucker is nasty.

Time to pull out our Covid kits.

Dear UN, is this international enough?

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Sweden said on Thursday it had confirmed a first case of mpox, a viral infection that spreads through close contact.

Earlier on Thursday, the World Health Organization declared mpox a global public health emergency for the second time in two years, following an outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo that has spread to other countries.

"We have now also during the afternoon had confirmation that we have one case in Sweden of the more grave type of mpox, the one called Clade I," Health and Social Affairs Minister Jakob Forssmed told a news conference.
