Didn't find a recruiting thread for Coach Vic, so here it is. This is a very good pick up for Coach Vic, Sammie has been courted by L$U and U$C all season (My daughter is part of Reagan's girls b

  • She won't play.  She's rehabbing an ACL injury.  She wasn't going to play her senior year at CP regardless, but now she gets an extra semester of Texas Athletics medical care and rehab.  Smart play, b

Vic now 0-4 against Baylor. This program won't be able to progress until we get over the Baylor hump. For next season we'll shed more Aston players and Naylissa Smith will leave for the WNBA but I'm sure Baylor will find a way to beat us next season too like they always do. We are what we are, just an average a 5-5 Big 12 team

0-5. Lost in the Big 12 tournament to them too. Getting fans nice and ready for being LSU and USCe’s bitch when we get to the SEC

Edited by Js1

we have tall players that have zero skill.  our guards have to make shots or this team is done.

Ah you're right. We still have a chance to be 0-6 this season if we meet them in the big 12 tournament next month.

Hunter is scared to shoot

Matharu can’t stay out of foul trouble

JAT doesn’t look for her shot

Holle is a spot up corner three shooter

Harmon isn’t aggressive enough, not enough McCarty in her

Lazy rebounding. Clearly watched the men yesterday

And a bullshit foul

It’s like the men and women can only go on big scoring droughts. Basketball at Texas is so fucked

Leave the men out of this.

Meh. Horns went as far in the tourney as Baylor last year. Women's hoops is a 4-5 year sport. Let Vic recruit.

This is still a good team that could win a couple in the tourney. Just hit a rough stretch. And - playing the same team twice in 3 days is bullshit.

I’ve been surprised with interviews and sometimes with his coaching approach that he sometimes makes things more about himself than team.

This.  I’m still excited for the future.

I just wish we’d get better shooting the ball.  Even last year, same issue. Vic walking into a #1 pick and grabbing Lambert (grad transfer PG) covered up a lot of flaws. Just like Collen at Baylor (Smith and Lewis).  She went and got Asberry, like we got Matharu.

Vic needs Rickea Jackson and another post player. Ebo is probably going to be suggested to move on and graduate.  Lattimore/Moore/Gaston and a physical 6’4 or 6’5 post player rental until Boutelier works, unless Ebo is going to put in the work on her body and her shot - then I’d take her for a final season.  Lattimore needs to put on a lot of muscle and weight, she’s a beanpole.

PG: Harmon

SG: Matharu/Hunter/Holle

SF: Codio/Ndjakalenga/KKH

PF: Moore/Gaston/Muhammad

C Ebo/Lattimore/Masudi

If Ebo comes back, we have 13 so can take 2 transfers. 3 if Ebo moves on. 1 has to go to Rickea Jackson.  We still need a backup PG with JAT graduating

Vic is ready for these seniors to move on

Vic vented about players taking bad shots, driving the wrong way, getting outrun on the floor for layups as soon as they subbed in and struggles to get through to seniors ... he didn't name any names ...

Quote

Vic: "I've beat my head in with some of them for now 2 years on what to do do and how to do it. They keep wanting to do it their way. Their way ain't working. That's frustrating as a coach. When you can't get a senior, a veteran to do it your way, it never works out their way."

Time for a youth movement. Harmon/Matharu/Hunter/Moore/Gaston

Yep, may as well build for the future at this point.

Texas is still the top Big 12 team in NET - #8, ahead of #9 ISU and #10 Baylor.

But per Charlie Creme, we dropped to a 3 seed with the loss.  I don't think we have any other games left that would vault us back into a 2 seed except maybe ISU again.  I think a 3 seed is our best bet and we need to avoid the 4 seed line.

Poor Tennessee has gone from a top 5 NET team to #18.  They are spiraling.

Updated Bracketology:

Kansas is a last four bye team
A&M is #2 amongst the first four out
Miss St. is now amongst the last 4 in

1 seeds NC State, South Carolina, Louisville, Stanford
2 seeds UConn, Iowa State, Arizona, Michigan
3 seeds Tennessee, Indiana, OU, Baylor
4 seeds Texas, ND, Oregon, LSU

KSU a 5 and KU an 11 seed

Texas is "projected" for Bridgeport with NC State, UConn and Tenn.

Game 22: #16/17 Texas (15-6, 5-5 Big 12) vs Texas Tech (9-12, 2-8 Big 12)

Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022 – 7:00 p.m. Central
United Supermarkets Arena (15,000) – Lubbock, Texas

GameDay Quick Facts:
• TELEVISION: The game will be televised nationally on ESPN+. Ron Thulin (pxp) and Brandi Poole (analyst) will call the action.
• RADIO: 105.3 The Bat broadcasts every UT game on the statewide network. Craig Way (pxp) and Kathy Harston (analyst) will call the action. Check TexasSports.com for a listing of affiliates carrying the game.
• SERIES: Texas leads, 76-31. Last meeting: Texas Tech 74-61 (Jan.5 , 2022; Austin, Texas).

LEADING IN: The No. 16/13 Texas Women's Basketball team will look to snap a three-game losing streak Wednesday evening (7 p.m. CT) as it travels to Lubbock to square off with Texas Tech inside the Lady Raiders' United Supermarkets Arena. The Longhorns are coming off a pair of losses to No. 10/12 Baylor this past weekend, falling 75-63 in Waco before dropping a 63-55 contest to the Bears at home on Sunday. Texas Tech is coming off a 82-75 loss at Kansas State in their last outing on Saturday.

THE SERIES: Texas and Texas Tech will meet for the 107th  time overall on Wednesday evening. The Longhorns own a commanding 76-31 advantage over the Lady Raiders in the all-time series and have won eight of their last 10 meetings. Tech defeated UT 74-61 in their first meeting this season on Jan. 5 inside the Erwin Center.

JUMPSTARTING THE OFFENSE: After averaging 82.5 points per game with a 46.1 field goal percentage during their nonconference schedule,  the Longhorns' offense has stalled as of late and is averaging just 63 points through their last five games in conference play and are  shooting just 38.8 percent from the floor.

In Sunday's 63-53 loss the Bears, the Longhorns were held under the 60-point mark offensively for the first time this season. Texas has surpassed the 70-point mark just once during conference play which can on a 73-57 victory over West Virginia on Jan.15.

THE SCHAEFER FORMULA: Longhorn head coach Vic Schaefer makes no secret in the way his teams have found success over the years. Relentless full court defensive pressure, attention to detail, and limiting turnovers and mistakes have been built in to the identity of his programs. The 2021-22 Longhorns are no different ranking among the best in the country in several defensive categories.  UT currently ranks No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 21 in the NCAA holding opponents to just 54.8 points per game. They also lead the league and rank No. 9 nationally in turnovers forced at 23.6 per contest.

SCOUTING THE LADY RAIDERS:  Texas Tech has had an up and down 2021-22 campaign posting a couple marque wins early in Big 12 play but have struggled recently as they've dropped their last five contests including an 82-75 loss at Kansas State this past weekend.

Tech ranks No. 3 in the league in field goal percentage this season shooting at a 45 percent mark from the floor as a team. They rank No. 2 in the Big 12 in three-point shooting with a 37 percent clip.

The Lady Raiders are paced offensively by senior guard Vivian Gray, who is averaging 19.8 points per game in 13 contests. Gray has missed eight contests due to injury this season. Taylah Thomas is the teams' second leading scorer at 9.8 points per game and leads the team on the glass averaging 8.6 rebounds per game.

NEXT: Following Wednesday's tilt in Lubbock, Texas will return to the floor on Saturday, Feb.12 (7 p.m., LHN) to host No.12/18 Oklahoma in round No.2 of the Red River Rivalry inside the Frank Erwin Center. The Longhorns welcome in No. 9/ 13 Iowa State next Wednesday, Feb. 16 (7 p.m., LHN).

Revenge game

We need this one bad. After two losses to Baylor and one to OU we do not want to have a 4 game losing streak and have to face OU and Iowa State after that.
The ladies need a confidence boost and the loss to Tech here was one of our worst losses of the season, and they deserve some payback.
We need to get up off the mat, get tough and put some elbows in some ovaries. Matharu needs to stay out of foul trouble and we have to get our
shooting percentage up. The last three games we shot 33% 37% and 39%.

Holle getting a start. Sending a message

Texas down 18-22 and Tech shooting 58%. Geez

Tech players want this game more so far... just bullying Texas !!!

Surprised to see a Vic team play with so little energy and lack of toughness.

Tech announcers said all ball and JAT was trying to get the ref to call a technical because she got hit so hard in the face.

Yeah that was terrible analysis by the announcers...

I'm fine with a little homerism but that was way off.

Harmon doesn't look confident in her shot anymore.

That full court press opens us up for getting beat down the court. Someone should ALWAYS get back immediately.

Where the hell is Matharu?

Don’t be shocked - 2 fouls

32-31 Texas at half. Tech cooled off to 42%.

Terrible execution on final possession for Texas ends in a throw it up and pray jump shot miss...
