August 29Aug 29 Like I said, Garza is just plain bad at the blocking-and-tackling of running the DA's office. The bulk of the job is boring, ministerial shit....that's super-duper important to running an efficient and effective office. Kind of like the practice of law in general. 95% boring, mechanical, but super-important shit, without which, you never even get to do the 5% cool and exciting stuff. But we are so locked in to a pointlessly partisan battle that we're never going to have another election for any office about anything that actually matters to the office.

If the City Council spent more than $250 to have someone come up with that stupid logo, then the excess should be garnished from their city salaries. Edited September 2Sep 2 by Armybrat It looks like MK spent more than that on her avatar’s makeover.

As branding exercises go, this wasn’t terribly expensive and I don’t get bent out of shape by small potatoes expenses but the result here is absurd and somebody in the CM’s office should have redirected this or better yet, done it in-house. This bears all the marks of overthinking engagement and feedback during the process. The firms involved should have insisted on a better outcome.

Actually rebranding stuff with it will cost another $500kish. So, this isn’t a high dollar project for this kind of work. But the result is Fiverr level circa 2010.

The rest is cost that will get deployed going forward. Quote Jessica King, the city's chief communications director, said the contract the council approved with the firms was about $564,000. She said the vast majority of that went to outreach and engagement, while the design element was about $200,000. But she added that, "Overall, when you look at all the things that we're putting together, [the cost of the project is] about $1.1 million."

It will suffice to say that you damn with faint praise when you say it's better than Austin.
