December 17Dec 17 New recruits typically get sent to Korea for their first rotation. They get wifed then return to Ft Hood. At least thats how it was 30 years ago.A long, long time ago I waited tables at a nice steakhouse. We had an Air Force base in town. One night I got a 20-ish person retirement party. All Air Force brothas. Every. Single. One. Had an Asian wife/girlfriend that spoke limited English. Everyone was paying separate, so I’m having to around and ask who is with who and so on. I get to the fourth or fifth lady and she says to me “the black guy”. I had to collect myself because every guy at the table was black. So I tried to diplomatically narrow down my choices for her date. After several unsuccessful trjes, this very frustrated Asian lady with a very thick accent yells incredibly loud “CHOCOLATE THUNDAA!!”. One head snaps around and she points and says “dat one”. /csb

Don't forget at least one tattoo parlor and a strip club also on the same street. Every base (AFB, Navy, Army post, and Marine Base or R depot) in America has at least one secondary gate that leads to one of these streets. And they are for the most part listed as off limits (yeah right) to duty personnel. 3 hours ago, gsoda3 said: There's Korean food in killeen? Is it good? C'mon man ! The food is as good as their nail parlors. 😝 While I'm not a huge fan of it, some of the best Kimchi I ever had was a from an NCO's wife whose hubby was stationed at Hood. 3 hours ago, MissingInAction said: New recruits typically get sent to Korea for their first rotation. Abilene, San Angelo, or maybe Wichita Falls (Dyess, Goodfellow, Sheppard)? Early 80's, every Friday at the Dyess NCO club was Mongolian beef night during happy hr. The Club was full of all the admin brotha's and their significant Asian + 1's, or just the wives by themselves 🤷♂️ .
